We were able to help Franklin County High School’s ROTC program by setting two 10-foot utility poles for their new rope course. The project will help provide cadets with the hands-on opportunities to build teamwork, leadership and physical training skills. We were happy to donate three door prizes for the 2026 Red Lick Baptist Church Fall Festival. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, at the church, 66 Woodvine Road in Lorman.

Events will include a wild game cook-off, a 3-D archery shoot, bobbing for apples or donuts, cake walks, bingo, door prizes, silent auction, cotton candy, shaved ice and much more.

We were proud to co-sponsor with Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi the Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation- Camp Kamassa's golf tournament again this year.

Employees Jason Delaney, Scott Campbell, Tanner Bullock and Michael Johnson played on our team.

We would like to thank the MTK Foundation staff for allowing us to support this wonderful cause.

For our October 2026 issue, we visited the home many consider "the most haunted house in Mississippi.” 👻🏚️

According to the owners, McRaven is active with ghosts and serves as a landmark for the stories and history of families who lived there in the past. The house is available for historic tours, haunted tours, and special ghost investigations.

Also, be sure to "Look Around" our service area with us and discover adventures in our own backyard. This quarter we chose Clark's Creek in Wilkinson County. You can also learn about the process for installing solar panels should you be interested.

Tropical Storm Isaias has formed in the Gulf. The predictions are changing, but don’t wait until the storm arrives. Take time to prepare your home and family:

• Charge phones, battery packs and other essential devices
• Have flashlights and extra batteries ready
• Stock up on water, food and necessary medications
• Secure outdoor furniture, equipment and loose items

A few minutes of preparation now can make a big difference if severe weather arrives.

October 4-10 is Fire Prevention Week! Take a minute to check the cords around your home.

Look for fraying, cracks, exposed wires, or damage near plugs.

A worn cord can overheat and spark a fire without warning.

If you spot damage, replace the cord or the device rather than trying to patch it up.

A quick inspection now can prevent a serious hazard later. 🔥⚠️

Our crews and contractors are performing tree trimming work in the Lincoln County area, including Brookhaven, Halbert Heights, Zetus Road, Old Red Star, and all areas served out of the Brookhaven Substation.

This work helps maintain safe, reliable electric service and reduces the risks of outages caused by trees and limbs near power lines.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to improve reliability for our cooperative Members!
