Exhibit C: Spirulina -
The most widely consumed species of microalgae, spirulina is being grown in the Allgarden prototype v0.2. It is multicellular, with a line of cells coiled into the spiral for which it’s named. Spirulina has achieved symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria to turn abundant N2, CO2, and H2O into delicious protein!

Also known as watermeal (Wolffia) or water lentils (Lemna), these species range in size from a poppyseed to a ladybug. As the smallest flowering plants on earth, they can be found floating in freshwater ponds like tiny lily pads. Duckweed is mild in flavor but packed with vitamins and protein.

The fastest growing edible algae, this was produced by Allgarden prototype v0.1. It’s very resilient, growing in anything from sewage to chlorinated tap water and the salty sea. Unfortunately, chlorella’s application in food is limited to supplements due to high levels of DNA 🧬
