Every year, over 15 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans. By 2025, we might find as much plastic as fish in the sea. A big part of the problem? Plastic straws. Used once but lasting for hundreds of years.

Millions of plastic straws are used every day in the U.S. They can’t be recycled, so they fill our landfills, pollute our streets, and hurt our wildlife. Even tiny pieces of these straws called microplastics can be ingested by animals and people, possibly causing health problems.

PHA and PLA are both types of bio-plastics, but they are quite different in how they're made, decompose and their effects on the environment.

Why is PHA a better choice than PLA? 🌱
PHA naturally breaks down with the help of bacteria and goes back into the environment safely, leaving no harmful microplastics, like PLA does.

It's also easier to deal with after use: you can recycle PHA, compost it at home or in large facilities, which isn't always possible with PLA.

Plus, making PHA uses less energy and is kinder to our planet because it comes from a natural process of fermentation.
