How Nigerian Scammers Made This 17-Year-old Boy Take His Life | Behind The Screens
On March 24, 2022, 17-year-old American teenager Jordan DeMay was contacted on Instagram by an account using the username .robbertts, which claimed to belong to a 19-year-old college student from Atlanta.
What began as a normal online conversation later turned into flirting. Unknown to Jordan, the account was not operated by a young woman, but by a group of scammers—Samuel Ogoshi, Samson Ogoshi, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert—who were operating from Lagos, Nigeria.
After gaining his trust, the scammers coerced Jordan into sending a private image. The tone of the conversation changed immediately. He was then subjected to online extortion and psychological pressure, with threats to expose the image publicly.
Tragically, the sustained harassment and pressure led to Jordan DeMay’s death by su***de.
