A New Standard in Battlefield Sterilization: U.S. Marines Select FRONT-LINE
The Marine Corps' acquisition of the FRONT-LINE Field Sterilizer represents another significant step toward solving one of battlefield medicine's persistent challenges: advancing surgical capability farther forward. With this FDA-cleared sterilizer, Marine medical teams now have a portable, dependable system capable of delivering full sterilization in austere and contested environments.
The FRONT-LINE Field Sterilizer (FL135) was engineered to meet the military's growing demand for greater sterilization capacity, durability, and operational reliability. The FL135 is a dynamic air-removal steam sterilizer purpose-built for expeditionary operations and the harsh realities of military deployments.
Beyond its rugged performance, the FL135 offers a compact operational footprint that appeals to military logisticians. It sterilizes up to 25 pounds of surgical instruments while using less than four fluid ounces (100 mL) of water per cycle. The system automatically recycles condensate, allowing up to 50 sterilization cycles before requiring a water change.
Fort Defiance Industries has long been a leader in developing field-ready steam sterilization systems designed to bring sterile processing closer to the point of injury. Beginning with the P2131 Field Sterilizer, which has supported every branch of the U.S. military for over a decade. FDI has focused on delivering reliable sterilization capabilities for far forward medical operations. Today, that commitment continues with the FRONT-LINE Field Sterilizer, helping equip U.S. Marines with the tools needed to deliver life-saving surgical care wherever the mission takes them.
