Air Nerds Cooling and Heating

Air Nerds Cooling and Heating Air Nerds is a residential HVAC/home repair company with over 65 years of combined family experience. The owner, James Martin is a 3rd generation HVAC nerd.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look into Air Nerds as your last stop in searching for the right HVAC contractor. His father would take him on jobs when he was a kid and tear the work down - making James redo it if it was incorrect. Even in crawl spaces, where no one would see the work. Air Nerds believes in putting ourselves in the shoes of the homeowner who pays the bills. The owner's fath

er taught him the value of honesty and hard work over high-pressure sales and rip-offs. When you choose Air Nerds you can rest assured that our highly skilled team of certified HVAC nerds will enter your home carrying tools and the same principles of business.

Happy Merchant Monday from the Air Nerds Cooling and Heating team!

This Monday we want to keep it short but stay in the theme of “area business/resources/non-profits” etc that we personally support and know the leaders of.

Leaders who share the values that Air Nerds operates with and who we confidently and proudly want recommend to others.

This week we are shouting out Louisa Youth Athletic Association for their amazing leadership and ex*****on of improving the league for the youth of our area. As a parent myself with children who are in local sports, and as someone who was once in kids sports when I was younger- it’s important to Air Nerds to give back and sponsor to help make a change in these kids lives through little league sports.

We want to thank our amazing clients and supporters who understand that the cheapest priced services are not necessarily the best. Additionally by the public trusting us in our pricing methods- we are able to not only deliver top notch HVAC services- but we are able to support the community that supports us! We are told many times by many clients that our pricing is fair- but understandably there are times when people can be shocked at the price to get top notch HVAC services- just know with Air Nerds- part of each dollar we collect goes back into the community through a variety of ways.
This makes you- the homeowner part of this ecosystem of our community being improved and together we all play a part in seeing the fruits of our efforts translate to community gains. 💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛

Happy Merchant Monday from the Air Nerds Cooling and Heating team.

Today we wanted to do something a bit different and start a new series of “small local businesses we trust and use”.

To kick this series off we want to give a huge shout out to Lee Creek Detailing for demonstrating shared values as we have at Air Nerds Cooling and Heating:

Punctuality (showing up when you say)
Honesty (not over selling things you don’t need)
Competence (being a trained expert)
Fair pricing (not breaking the bank)
Hard working (staying late if need be)

We hired Lee Creek Detailing to detail a member of managements personal vehicle back to life (she has kids and is a busy soccer/cheer mom in her spare time and badly needed a reset on her Mom Taxi.)

And we hired them to ceramic coat our Air Nerds boat and clean the interior after it has sat for over a year (we were too busy fixing air conditioners).

Parker- the owner of Lee Creek Detailing is a very hard working and respectful young man who we would recommend to our staff, clients, and family for any detailing work you need done!

We love to support local businesses and we are excited to share the businesses we trust for ourselves and our followers.

Today our Team of Real Technicians™️ were assisted by our office staff Le’ and Danielle as we install new Air Conditioners for Louisa Christian Church.

The office girls are always happy to meet new clients and learn about what goes on in the field! Today they even helped lift the equipment into the attic while bringing our guys lunch and cold drinks. - now that’s a job AI can’t replace!!

Check out how hard our team works while maintaining a smile!

And no- that’s not a LED party attic- those are natural colors coming in from the Church’s old stained glass. What a pleasure and excitement to work in such a location full of history!

🚨🔔Important post 🔔🚨
Is the contractor you hired or recommended to be hired licensed and insured or engaged in illegal contracting?
This is something that many homeowners never consider- especially when “price shopping” and or recommending “companies” to others.

I currently have a garage door size hole in the side of my home where I hired a contractor to convert a large tall crawl space into a garage. Long story short- after hiring him I began sending pictures to my Father to show the progress of the work. Thank GOD I did! Because after knocking a hole in the side of my home and trying to use a small wooden “lentil” to support the weight OF MY ENTIRE KITCHEN…we were able to catch his work early and fire him. This contractor wears a “company shirt” and has you make checks out to a LLC, and leaves open beer bottles on your job site…but come to find out- he’s not licensed and can’t even pull a permit which is required to keep me safe and to prevent a law-suit down the road from the next owner of our home. Not to mention- this contractor NEVER ONCE mentioned the required engineer drawings for a project of this size. The total cost to fix his mess will be more than if I had simply hired a licensed contractor to start.

When you see posts in the groups this hot summer advertising to be the low cost HVAC option- do yourself a favor and head to the DPOR website and do a 1 second license look up.
Or better yet: ask them for their license information (which is required on all invoices).

We all want to save money…but there is a clear difference between hiring a legitimate licensed and insured company and a “pretend company”.

Legitimate businesses are held to a standard to keep you safe and have the best chance at competent and accountable work. From employing members of the community and creating stable jobs, to the continued education required, to the insurances to keep you safe, to the donations to local community efforts…licensed legitimate businesses (although possibly slightly more expensive) keep you safe and support the community.

Unlicensed con-artists pretending to be a company and “working for fishing poles” are the same contractors we hear homeowners say all the time “my new system is broken and the contractor ghosted me”. He’s probably out fishing and laughing at your phone call.

You can look contractors license info up on the DPOR site and the Virginia State Corporation site. When a licensed/insured contractor does a bad job and you can’t get them to correct it- there is a Contractors Recovery Fund you can seek help from. When a criminal pretending to be a company does you wrong- you have to sue in local courts, seek a judgement, and pursue collecting and hoping he has more than fishing poles to collect.

Don’t get burned like I did- and don’t judge real companies pricing based off the pricing of a criminal.

Not all things are equal in the contracting world and you as a homeowner do not want to deal with being ghosted after the incorrect work fails on you.

Potentially save a buck now- spend 2-4X that in cleaning up their mess.

And by the way- if a contractor does not follow the law- do you think they really have respect for you and your home? Or the quality of work?

https://www.dpor.virginia.gov/LicenseLookup

Air Nerds is a Class A licensed contractor who charges a fair market value given the costs of business that licensed and competent companies incur in order to stay compliant with the law for your safety.

Just because they have “LLC” or some {insert last name} on their tshirt- doesn’t mean they are licensed. It might just fit the legal definition of fraud.

Today Air Nerds got the pleasure of upgrading this homeowners HVAC system from the ole’ single stage clunky loud and underperforming AC system to a New Daikin Fit 16 energy saving “inverter variable speed” system.

Our office manager Danielle (pictured on the left) was kind enough to bring our team lunch in the field today and personally thank our client for hiring Air Nerds.

Our Team of Real Technicians™️ are highly trained and very friendly- they love meeting new homeowners and they take incredible passion and care in how they perform your work.

This system has a 12 year parts warranty and 12 year unit replacement warranty ensuring many reliable years of energy savings, quiet operation, and far more comfort (via variable speed motors).

Happy Memorial Day from the Air Nerds Team
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We want to share a 8 minute clip of what was a 90 minute meeting we had with a special guest this past Friday.

We had the pleasure of having Jesse Martin with Christ Hope in to share their mission of creating hope and stability to kids and families who need it the most. Jesse is my brother and I know his heart and trust the organization he leads.

This Memorial Day we are thankful for the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country- where we can have opportunities and freedom to raise our families with provisions that many families in the world do not have access to.

Air Nerds is a proud sponsor of Christ Hope and look forward to continuing to be able to contribute to causes in our local community and communities abroad. With each job we perform- a portion is given locally and globally and we are thankful for the men and woman who bravely serve this country and make this possible.

Stay tuned for more “fly on the wall” moments from our meetings. We aim to be transparent in our operations, management, and mission.

05/22/2026

This is a sneak peek to the inner workings of Air Nerds.

More “fly on the wall” unfiltered real meetings coming soon! Stay tuned- what we discuss behind the scenes is what we will discuss in open. Today we were so blessed to host my Father and my Brother to speak on our work values and Air Nerds’ foundational operating direction.

More to come!
