Is solar panel recycling illusion or a reality that can make an industry built on sustainability....more sustainable?
On the heels of announcing the first fully recyclable 645W PV module last month - many are still bemoaning the high costs and effort behind staying circular in operations.
If you're SOLARCYCLE -- solar recycling company, you skipped the middle man and put it right into action. They've installed an on-site solar farm made of reused solar panels that will power their industrial solar panel recycling facility.

The reused panels come from decommissioned utility-scale solar farms and residential installations across the United States. SOLARCYCLE says the project serves as a model of how to power an industrial facility through renewable energy as the US ramps up domestic manufacturing capacity. It will also help to build a fully closed loop, ultra-low carbon solar industry in America.

The 500KW system made from around 1,000 reused panels will provide around 50% of the electricity SOLARCYCLE uses to power their advanced recycling factory in Odessa, Texas.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a significant investment of $40 million to bolster the U.S. solar supply chain.
This injection of funds will support our industry through domestic manufacturing and keeping us in the innovation race.
Local production capabilities means energy independence for the US and a more stable supply chain.

5 Takeaways from RE+ Anaheim 2024
What an exciting RE+ with SEIA in Anaheim last week! It's taken us a few days to recover from all the exciting things coming down the pipeline. We absolutely loved connecting with the suppliers we talk to daily in person and making new connections with professionals across the industry, all passionate about spreading clean, affordable energy to the masses.

Top takeaways:

1. The newly released SEIA and Wood Mackenzie Solar Market Insight Report heartened us with the positive trend for domestic module manufacturing.

We know domestic content is a hot topic and American Made energy is at the heart of our operations. We were heartened to hear that there is a lot going on in this space that will help our customers meet eligibility for the Domestic Content Bonus.

2. The tech continues to evolve to meet the challenges of siting, permitting, construction, and compliance, which should in turn help remove obstacles in 2025.

3. There is wide bipartisan support for the solar industry with the DOE announcing $16 million in funding, including $8 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aimed at reducing the costs and impacts of solar energy technologies.

4. 🔋 So much storage! We saw batteries on every corner of the lower hall, commensurate with increasing demand for resiliency, energy arbitrage, and grid services.

5. SEG's bucking bronco was tempting, but we didn't want to leave RE+ worse than we entered! What a great team!

We'll see you at the next solar rodeo!

The shift to grid forming inverters is underway. Researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and their collaborators have created new models meant to allow power system engineers to evaluate how a new technology, the grid-forming inverter, would work on the grid to improve grid stability.

The new models, developed by PNNL in collaboration with multiple inverter manufacturers, software vendors, and power system planners — were recently approved by the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), which oversees the nation’s western power grid.
