House Recedes on SB100, Sending Anti-Net Metering Bill to Governor
Last night at 10:50pm the Kentucky House voted 50 – 38 to recede on SB100, approving the original Senate bill and sending it to the Governor for his signature. If signed into law this will spell the end of net metering in Kentucky and greatly reduce access to solar energy for most Kentuckians.
Please contact Governor Bevin and urge him to VETO SB100.

Solar supporters, here we go again. Anti-Solar Bill Rushed Through KY Senate – Now Getting Rammed Through the House

Calls & Emails Needed Now on SB100!!

The Ky Senate has rammed through SB100 – the Bill to End Solar Net Metering – in just 48 hours. SB100 was written by utility lobbyists and would crush the market for rooftop solar, taking away their customer’s access to affordable solar power.

SB100 will be heard in the House Natural Resources & Energy Committee at 9:00am Thursday, Feb. 14th, in the Capitol Annex Rm. 131.

PLEASE TAKE ACTION:

1. Call the Legislative Message Line at 1-800-372-7181 and leave a message for Members of the House Natural Resources and Energy Committee and the full House. Urge them to Oppose SB100 and tell them to support Kentucky’s growing solar businesses and our freedom to use solar energy.

2. Email members of the HOUSE NATURAL RESOURCES & ENERGY COMMITTEE and your Representative with the same message. Legislators can also be emailed at [email protected].

Solar Customers and Advocates: We need your voice now!
The State House adopted HB 227* yesterday by only four votes after two hours of floor debate. Our climate now needs your toll-free call to the Ky. Senate ASAP, please.

This job-killing bill got this far due lots of dirty tricks, from industry fake-email bots to a surprise committee meeting, held in a tiny room with four seats, several members missing and no KET cameras. So many legislators, both Ds and Rs, voted against HB 227, we believe it still can be beat in the few remaining days of this session.

Please call 800-372-7181 ASAP to leave a, "Vote NO on job-killing HB 227," message for the full senate. Add why you value solar power, and want the Public Service Commission to consider rooftop solar power's costs and benefits.

ALERT KY Solar Supporters: A new bill substitute on HB227 was heard on short notice by the committee in Frankfort and has PASSED. The bill goes to the full house and could be heard today. Please call your Frankfort representative at 1-800-373-7181. Tell him/her this bill will hurt local solar industries and vocalize your opposition.

Unfortunately, Kentucky’s policy regarding homeowner solar systems is threatened by the legislature again! A bill – HB227 – has been introduced by Rep. Gooch from western KY which would eliminate residential net metering in Kentucky.
It proposes:
• Solar credits will be replaced with utility cash payments at a rate 70% lower than the current credit value, and which cannot be accumulated.
• The annual savings for typical residential net-metered solar systems would thereby drop by at least 44%.
• The PSC will have rate cases for every utility pertaining to solar interconnection, which will be an insurmountable legal and financial burden for solar installers.
Please take action! Call the legislative message service, 1-800-372-7181 or 502-564-8100, and urge legislators to oppose HB227. Leave a message for your legislator and the entire House Natural Resources & Energy Committee.
