We're excited to welcome our 2026 summer interns to KPFF!

Building the future of our profession starts with investing in the people who will help shape it. This summer, interns across our Louisville, Lexington, Washington DC, Nashville, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Indianapolis offices are learning alongside our teams, contributing to meaningful project work, and gaining hands-on experience in structural engineering.

Welcome to KPFF, Marie, Alex, Ally, Cali, Carly, Kate, Yussef, Nathan, Payton, Drake, Humberto, Josh, Gus, and Steven. We are glad you are here and excited to support your growth this summer.

Reason No. 2: Trust

At KPFF, trust is built through the way we support one another, take ownership, and grow together. We believe trust creates the space for people to step up, take initiative, and keep building confidence in their work. It is a big part of how we create a culture where people feel supported from the start.

UofL Ekstrom Library Addition

Campus spaces continue to adapt to meet changing needs in learning and research, and the addition of Ekstrom Library supports that next chapter at the University of Louisville.

As a Structural Engineer for this 2,000 SF two-story addition with a full basement, KPFF supported the expansion of a library system that serves students, faculty, and researchers through both physical and digital collections. The new structure adds archived book storage below grade and open study space above, extending the role of Ekstrom Library as a core academic resource on campus.

The structure features elevated concrete slabs over steel deck supported by conventional steel framing and is tied directly into the existing library. KPFF also reviewed the original structural documents and confirmed the feasibility of connecting the new addition to the existing building, helping the project move forward with clarity and confidence.

KPFF is proud to support a project that strengthens an essential campus space and helps create more room for study, access, and long-term learning.

Across every office, our commitment stays the same: grow, learn, and get better together.

Our Latitude Summit brought together 90 team members from across KPFF for meaningful conversations about connection, belonging, technical growth, and continuous improvement.

Workshops on continuous improvement, including AI+Computational design, project management, and technical advisory, created space for our teams to learn, share ideas, and strengthen how we work.

We invest in moments like this because growth does not happen by accident. It happens when people come together with curiosity, trust, and a shared commitment to doing meaningful work well.

The Summit was a reminder that progress is something we make space for, build into our culture, and carry forward together.

Looking for a place to grow? Explore career opportunities with KPFF.

9 offices, 90 people, 9 years. 1 Team of Teams.

Day at the Downs brought people from across KPFF together for connection, conversation, and time outside the normal rhythm of project work.

These moments matter. They help us build trust, strengthen relationships, and remember that meaningful work starts with meaningful relationships.

A good day with good people, and a reminder of what makes this team so special.

And yes, we would bet on this team every time.

Jacob Latham knows engineering is not always easy, and that is exactly what makes it rewarding.

When asked what advice he would give to someone aspiring to enter the field, Jacob shared that engineering is for people who enjoy being challenged, solving genuinely difficult problems, and pushing themselves to grow. His perspective reflects the kind of curiosity, resilience, and purpose that shape strong engineers over time.

We are proud to spotlight Jacob and the thoughtful advice he is sharing with the next generation of structural engineers.
