Posting this because We have received many phone calls. If we get freezing rain I would switch to emergency heat. If the heat pump is off outside and ice builds up on it and the systems tries to come on it can do damage. And don’t turn it back to heat pump until the ice melts off. With the windchill below 0 degrees I would turn on emergency heat. Hope everybody stays safe!

Just putting this out there because of the upcoming storm. If we get the amount of snow that they’re calling for on Saturday and Sunday, No one and I do repeat no one is going to be able to get out of their driveways. You should always have some form of back up heat heaters, etc. If your heat goes out, unfortunately, we will not be able to get out of our driveways or subdivisions. As old as I am I can remember the 70s snow. It shut the city down for two weeks. This is just a heads up to make sure you are prepared with generators, heaters, wood for fireplaces, heavy blankets, whatever you need. If your heat does go out during this time, please be sure you turn your faucets on to a slow drip so your water pipes don’t freeze. Like a lot of HVAC companies, we are extremely busy and cannot take phone calls just to answer questions about this situation. There are a lot of people calling about this situation. Hope everybody stays safe!
