Vectis Automation

Vectis Automation Vectis’ mission is to empower manufacturers with easy-to-use, flexible, and affordable automation

We are a team of passionate engineers with over two centuries of combined experience in the welding automation industry. We saw a growing need for low-risk, low-cost, and easy-to-use automation solutions catered towards small/medium shops needing to boost productivity amid the shortage of skilled labor - so we started Vectis in early 2019. With several hundred systems in the field and the largest

cobot fabrication install base in North America, our mission remains the same as when we started: provide the lowest-risk and easiest-to-use automation solutions at an accessible price. We believe in:
- Absolute Customer Focus
- Integrity, Honesty, and Respect guiding our every action
- Empowerment of Employees and Customers
- Culture of Listening
- Always Innovating

Holmes Welding & Fabrication has served the Construction, Quarry, and Agribusiness industries for over 50 years with a product line of bodies, wagons, and attachments to move large volumes of materials efficiently.

Holmes' heavy fabrications require advanced automation capabilities. In this video, vertical up welding with solid wire was achieved by leveraging a 3D weave shape and stop-motion dwells, allowing the cobot to achieve deeper root pe*******on while also managing the out of position molten weld pool. Vertical welding is critical in applications where rotating large/heavy parts into a more desirable welding position is impractical or impossible, such as mining, construction, and shipbuilding.

This advanced process control is just one example of how Vectis Cobot Welding Tools are providing fabricators with both an approachable entry point into automation and room to grow into more challenging applications.

Thank you to the Holmes Welding & Fab team for sharing! If you are exploring what advanced cobot welding and cutting could make possible in your shop, the Vectis team is here to help.

When D&S Manufacturing began evaluating cobot automation, their team involved the future cobot operators from the very beginning.

This employee buy-in - “involvement from day one, making sure everyone has a seat at the table” - has created a successful, sustainable automation program and created true ownership by those responsible for operating the systems every day.

“Our biggest differentiator is our ability to scale. Our Vectis cobots in welding have helped us do that.”

After starting with one Vectis system, Caltech Manufacturing INC has grown to seven systems in production. By turning welding capacity from a constraint into a strength, their team can continually scale its operation and confidently take on challenging, high-volume projects for its customers.

Once a fixture and program are created, increasing capacity to meet customer needs becomes a repeatable process. As Caltech's President Jack Callender puts it, “once we build a fixture and a program and have a machine, if capacity doubles … it’s like copy and paste."

If welding capacity is limiting your ability to grow, the Vectis team is always available to assess if cobot welding is the right solution.

Thank you to Atchison Technologies for sharing a look at their Vectis system in production, fabricating aftermarket truck parts and more.

The clip also highlights Vectis' Touch Sensing feature, available for free on all systems. As another “tool in the toolbelt” to help manage part-placement inconsistencies, it works by touching the part and offsetting subsequent weld paths based on where it senses the components have moved.

A closer look at the Vectis Rover™ delivering consistent, continuous welds on long seams.

Using the mobility of their Rover system, the Sharp Iron Manufacturing team can bring the cobot directly to large weldments, maintaining consistent weld quality across large parts while greatly reducing physical strain on their welders.

Thank you to Sharp Iron for sharing and continuing to demonstrate what's possible when a team takes ownership of its cobot success!

This week, we had the opportunity to welcome A3 - Association for Advancing Automation for 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 recertification, while several team members earned their 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵 certification.

The Vectis team now includes 13 Certified Robotic Expert Technologists, alongside our continued A3 Certified Robot Integrator status.

Just as important as the technology is the team that supports it - staying sharp and continuing to prioritize technical expertise helps us provide more value to every customer conversation and every system.

Thank you to the folks at A3!

The team at All Metal Fab, Inc. provides another great example of how Vectis tools are helping tackle boring, repetitive welds.

Vectis software features such as Stitch Tool and Pattern Tool streamline repetitive weld layouts and "copy and paste" repeat weld programming, saving welders from the monotony of laying out this entire process by hand.

Thank you to All Metal Fab, Inc. for sharing this look at their long-reach Park'N'Arc in action, “offloading the boring” while increasing productivity and efficiency on the shop floor - a win for both the shop and the welder!

Need to add serial numbers, part IDs, product numbers, or other permanent “ink” to metal parts?

Introducing ArcScribe™, Vectis' new text-to-weld feature, recently developed by our ever-innovative software team and included for free on all Vectis systems!

Instead of programming each point individually, ArcScribe™ lets operators create letters, numbers, and symbols by simply entering text. It’s another example of the Vectis “low floor, high ceiling” approach to programming: practical tools that are easy to start with, and powerful enough to keep adding value as your application needs grow.

See it in action in the video below!
