Finished the lighting install on this tattoo shop.

A little look at the completed electrical work inside

Lighting is up, chandeliers are installed, and everything is coming together.

It's always good to see a project after all the wiring, layout, and installation work is finished.

The details really bring this one together.

Vegetation doesn’t belong back in the trench.

As it breaks down, it can leave voids that lead to settling and surface issues later. We strip it out, backfill with the excavated material, and keep the fill as solid and stable as possible.

Good backfill starts with what you don’t put back in.

“Warn the next guy.”

That’s who the dig tape is for. Not just the crew installing the line today, but whoever comes back to repair something or run a new service later.

A lot of good work disappears when a trench gets filled. Before a project wraps up, ask what information is being left for the next crew—and what records you should keep with the property.

One trench can carry several different plans.

This conduit layout includes the main three-phase transformer feed, spare capacity for a possible future transformer, and smaller pathways for future light-pole and security power. Each route has a purpose, even if some of that capacity is not needed today.

Good infrastructure leaves room for the next decision.

Lockout/tagout is there for one reason: to protect the person working downstream.

The device identifies who installed it and keeps someone from restoring power while work is still happening.

It’s a simple safeguard, but in electrical work, that can mean the difference between a safe job and a serious injury.

Safety comes first around switchgear.

Before any work starts, we verify what’s de-energized, identify what’s still live, and make sure everyone understands the work area limits.

It’s also a good teaching moment: ask questions, understand the system, and never assume equipment is safe until you've confirmed it.

Two rolls of tape. Two different jobs.

Brett is building up insulation with rubber tape, then adding color for identification. From a distance, it all looks like tape. On the job, knowing what each material is doing matters.

If you’re having electrical work explained to you, “What is that part for?” is a good question. The answer should be more useful than “That’s just how we do it.”

A splice is only as good as the prep behind it.

This is a method we’ve used for years because, when done properly, it creates a strong, dependable connection that holds up over time.

A mark on the ground only helps if you know what it means.

On this job, we uncovered water lines, control cables, and tree roots along the route.

Before underground work starts, make sure everyone knows what’s been identified and what’s still unknown.

A good termination starts before the conductor ever reaches the terminal.

There’s a lot that goes into prepping a heavy multi-conductor cable — getting the jacket cut back where you need it, separating everything out, and leaving the individual conductors clean and ready to route.

Take too much and you’ve created a problem. Take too little and you’re fighting it during the next step.

Good prep makes the rest of the install go a whole lot smoother.
