Dear Community of NWA,

My husband and I recently moved back down to NWA from Wisconsin, where we lived for ten years. We decided it was time for him to start his own electrical business, and he chose to start this company where he first became an electrician 20 years ago. After many years of hoping, dreaming, and praying, the stars finally aligned for him to do just that, and I couldn't be prouder. He has been an electrician for over 20 years, a lot of which he worked for NWA's local electrical company, Fleming Electric. He is so grateful for the knowledge and experience gained from them and various other companies after them.

Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to my husband, Colby Duncan, who now owns and created "3E Electrical." With many years of experience, he specializes in industrial electrical work and has vast experience in residential and commercial. Thus, "3E" was created for the three electrical branches: residential, commercial, and industrial. Given my husband's great experience and vast knowledge in all three branches, he wanted something to represent that.

My husband's primary goal is to raise the bar for all electricians in NWA. The first step is to address what lowered the bar in the first place. In our two short months here, he has recently heard and witnessed firsthand that honest tradespeople have become a dying breed here in NWA. This news was disheartening because he has always been proud to call himself an electrician from NWA. He always felt he had learned from the best of them during his early years as an apprentice electrician, being a native of Bentonville, AR.
Learning the electrical trade from his previous companies taught him to clean up after himself when the job was complete and to take pride in his work. Not only in a functional aspect but also to make it esthetically pleasing to the eye. From the service box to the light bulb or receptacle. He has recently noticed the need for more quality and pride taken to ensure customer safety and fellow electricians' safety.

My husband's goal is to raise the bar for all electricians again and bring back the quality and standard that once belonged to the tradespeople in NWA. He will strive to stop tradespeople from price gouging, eliminate those companies that provide the community with no-call, no-shows, and put a stop to the ridiculous quotes from trade companies that raise their prices because they don't want to either A: take on the job, or B: take advantage of good people. No one deserves that.

I have heard nothing but great things from Colby about the hospitality of the south, specifically here in NWA. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with my Southern husband. So, for me to hear these horror stories from Colby after his first week of starting his company here was shocking. Since then, he has witnessed other sad testimonies and has told me he had to change the minds of those who have shared these testimonies; he "has to be the difference."

My husband promises to bring integrity to the table, raise the bar for electricians here in NWA, and show those in the community real, quality craft, humility, and personable customer service in the electrical industry.

Please understand that we know everyone makes mistakes, which makes us all human. However, raising the bar for tradespeople will return the common courtesy that once was: owning up to those mistakes, striving to make it right, and promising to do better next time. These actions will hopefully again become the new normal in the electrical trade and other trades.

Integrity, compassion, and hard work sometimes go beyond just a job completion any day of the week. My husband may be a family man first, but after that, he is a darn good electrician and a hardworking man, no doubt. He knows that being a business owner, a father, and a husband comes with great responsibility and high standards. I hold a high standard for him as a family man here at the house, and he holds himself to a high standard as an electrician and a business owner.

He understands that things come up and people are human, but to him, not showing up and not calling is cowardly, downright rude, and disrespectful. I agree, and this got to him the most. I couldn't imagine hiring someone who didn't show up or even calling to do a job hired for. I know my husband will treat every job as if it's for one of his dearest friends or family members.

If you have ever had a bad experience like this within the electrical trade, I hope you allow my husband to change your mind that all electricians/tradespeople are not created equal. If you are looking for an honest man with a strong work ethic and a down-home vibe, this electrician is your guy. Just call or shoot him a message on his business page.

He probably wouldn't be happy if I shared his thoughts and feelings with the community. Or I threw in one of our family photos for everyone to see, but so many advertisements nowadays miss personality, personal touches, and downright reality. The picture symbolizes us closing our chapter this fall in Wisconsin and starting a new chapter here in Arkansas. So, it is perfect to show that 3E isn't just a company but a family.

Thank you all for looking. 3E and our family look forward to servicing NWA. Creating new, lasting personal and professional relationships. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi Folks! Here is a PSA for you,

Friendly reminder that if you want to do you're own underground work at your place of residence or business, please DO NOT skip the "Call before you dig" process. The number is 811, make sure you hit the 8 and not the 9. This process is easy and could save you from the biggest hassle you have ever experienced if you were to hit something "unforeseen".

811 is in place for a reason! To protect you, the others around you, and your WALLET!

DID YOU KNOW? That phone and cable lines, that are in a conduit, can be 12 inches or LESS in burial depth? Another fun fact, a cable buried 10 years ago, could only be at 4 or 5 inches from the surface today depending on the amount or type of traffic that area has sustained.

Be aware. Be safe. :)

TIME TO REMEMBER!!!

IT IS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR WHERE FAMILY'S ARE GATHERING TO CELEBRATE, TO REJOICE, TO REMINICE AND PICK ON THEIR FAVORITE RELATIVES!

THIS USUALLY INVOLVES HEAVY USE OF DINING AND KITCHEN AREAS! SO NOW IS THE TIME TO REMEMBER A FEW THINGS...

Do not plug-in 128 Croc-Pots into one or even two outlets/receptacles in the same area. You want to avoid overloading circuits and tripping breakers or GFI's. Make a plan to have the appliances with higher amp draw items spread throughout the house until it is time to eat. Usually by this time it is safe to have them all unplugged and set on the buffet!

Roasters, Croc-Pots, Air Fryers, and Toaster Ovens are all good examples of most kitchen arsenals.

Most of us already have decorations up, Nativity scenes spread out, lights plugged in here and more lights plugged in over there. All in good fun and holiday spirit NO DOUBT! Most of us also have that one year old puppy named "Nytro" with NO BRAKES or that well seasoned cat that thinks it's a cheetah or a squirrel monkey running around and knocking things over! Watch out for loose and flamable items next to electrical outlets and those hot stove tops! Basically watch out for Murphy and that law he wrote way back when.

Call me if you have any issues. Have a great rest of your week!

Customer called me and said that they did not have power in their living room. All of their receptacles did not work. These folks recently had a full wall reduced to a partition to get that open feel and view throughout the house. VERY UNDERSTANDABLE!

There was an electrical company that had come in and pulled the old electrical out of the existing wall, and the light switches and receptacles for both the Dining Room and the living room were to be hooked back up after the wall was completed. Sadly the electrical company never returned. Never even sent an invoice for the work that had been accomplished or "attempted". We are talking weeks here, without power. These folks were living on extension cords.

Come to find out the power for the living room receptacles had been pulled up into the attic and was not even capped off. High potential danger in a house that was only purchased months ago by this couple that moved from Missouri to Arkansas. Not a very good Welcome card if you ask me.

I was able to secure the line into a protected spot and splice into the other receptacles in the living room. All good now. MAKE SURE you have a good plan in place for any projects you have coming up in the future. If you are trying to schedule things yourself for a project that could involve a few different trades, make sure you have a list and help the other trades communicate with each other.

Also, make sure they come back to finish the job.

P.S. - Customer made me stop working to eat lunch they had prepared for me. SUPER COOL!

I'll be honest with you... I am a deep sleeper but I'll definitely answer if I wake up. I know what it is like losing something critical in the middle of the night and I also know what it is like not having the help I needed during that time.
