Good Friday Afternoon,
Hope everyone had a blessed and awesome start to 2023. Just want to give everyone a helpful reminder about bermuda grass and keeping it watered during the winter time. When bermuda grass goes dormant it stops growing above the surface but, the roots are still very much working on keeping you grass alive thru the winter time. As we get colder and get below freezing the ground can freeze. When the ground freezes and their is minimal moisture in the soil it can expand and separate the roots (brains) from the grass (body) causing turf injury that you won't see until spring time. Wet soil is a better insulator than dry soil. It is important during the winter time to get at least 1 inch of water per month to help your bermuda survive the brutal Texas Panhandle winter. As we all know around here in the Texas Panhandle we may not see rain for a months. So we have to use other means of irrigation. We carry chemicals that can help keep that water where it needs to be at the roots of the problem. Come see us at Pro Chem Sales and let our experienced staff help you keep your roots intact.
