Meet our June 2026 Employee Spotlight, Nikki Stork!
Nikki Stork began her career at Singing River Electric 19 years ago as a member service representative. Over the years, she moved into the accounting department, working in accounts payable before stepping into her current role as an accountant.
Nikki jumped at the opportunity when a position at Singing River Electric became available because of the positive things she heard about the company, and helped her decide to build her career here.
“Singing River Electric is full of people who rally behind you in all steps of life,” said Nikki. “Whether it’s the birth of a child or the death of a family member, we support one another.”
That family-oriented atmosphere encouraged Nikki to pursue a degree in accounting.
“I’ve always loved puzzles and numbers, and after working in the accounting department, I realized accounting is the perfect combination of the two,” she said. “That’s why I decided to go back to school and earn a degree from Franklin University. Now I’m responsible for tracking assets across the company like equipment, vehicles, generators, and fiber huts, submitting tax payments, and creating reports on all our accounts payable for the board of directors to review.”
Nikki emphasizes the importance of active membership in the cooperative.
“One of the tasks I help with is counting board of director election votes during the annual meeting, and I see firsthand how our members’ voices impact Singing River Electric,” she said. “Their voice decides who makes the decisions for the cooperative, and I’m happy to be a small part of that process.”
Outside of work, Nikki enjoys fishing and exploring the outdoors, attending local art festivals, crafting, sewing, reading, and spoiling her grandchildren.
