The process worked.

The gas moved. The transaction closed. Nobody complained.

But did you get the best result for the producer... or just the result you know how to defend?

Ask why.

The index is a reference point. Not a command.

A price can tell you what the market is paying. It can't tell you whether a better buyer, structure, or destination was available.

That takes someone willing to look.

Ask why.

Every organization has a definition of acceptable.

The dangerous part is when nobody remembers who defined it.

Ask why.

There is a certain comfort in matching everyone else.

Same process.
Same counterparties.
Same outcome.

But that's not performance.

That's the benchmark.

Ask why.

Not the market.

Not the molecule.

Someone made a decision about what acceptable looked like.

The question is whether anyone ever challenged it.

Ask why.

WHY ARE WE CALLING IT MARKETING
IF THE DESTINATION IS A BLIND POOL?

WHAT DID YOU LEAVE ON THE TABLE THIS MORNING?

A $0.04/MMBtu bid-offer gap looks like rounding error.

At 40,000 Dth/day, that's $584,000 a year.

Blind pool or Direct Placement?

ASK WHY.

Experience should make you question more.

Not question less.

Markets change.
Counterparties change.
Structures change.
The economics change.

The answer that worked yesterday deserves to be tested today.

Ask why.

What was true ten years ago
isn't automatically true today.

The market changed.

The suppliers changed.

The buyers changed.

The structures changed.

But some assumptions never got updated.

Yesterday's answer isn't automatically today's answer.

Ask why.
