It’s dove season! As you head out to your dove hunt, please keep safety and community connectivity in mind. Doves love to perch on utility lines, but taking a shot near electrical equipment can lead to serious safety risks and inconvenient power and internet disruptions.

✅ Safety First: Shooting near power lines can cause fire risks, electrocution hazards, and costly damage. Scout your hunting spots ahead of time and stay clear of utility lines.

✅ Stay Connected: Errant shots can damage power lines and fiber-optic cables, leaving homes and businesses without electricity or internet. Repairs can take hours and impact entire communities.

✅ Know the Law: Damaging electrical equipment is prohibited under Georgia law, with possible criminal charges and repair costs.

Dove season begins tomorrow, but don’t let your aim ruin everyone’s weekend. Shooting at power or fiber lines can cause outages and take down internet. No one wants a blackout during College Football Saturday! Hunt smart and keep the lines safe!

Ohoopee / Stanley Area – Please Be on the Lookout

We’re asking folks along Hwy 56 in the Ohoopee/Stanley area to keep an eye out for a logging truck or other equipment that may be loaded too tall for the road.

We’ve had two fiber line tear-downs this week in the same area. The fiber lines had clearances of around 20 feet, so whatever is being hauled is stacked way too high.

If you see a truck or trailer hauling an unusually tall load along Hwy 56, please contact local law enforcement and let them know.

Dove Season Reminder: Help keep communities powered and connected, and fellow hunters safe, as you enjoy the hunt!

Power lines and fiber-optic cables often serve as roosting spots for doves. While it may seem like an easy shot, aiming near these lines comes with serious risks:

Costly Repairs: Gunfire can damage lines, leading to tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs.

Safety Risks: Damaged power lines may spark fires or pose electrocution hazards. Power and Internet Outages: Shots at utility lines can cause lengthy service interruptions.

Legal Consequences: Shooting at utility infrastructure is illegal and could result in heavy fines for the hunter.

By aiming responsibly away from utility lines this dove season, hunters can safely enjoy their favorite pastime while helping keep communities powered and connected.
