🚧 Meet the Team Monday! 🚧
This week, we're spotlighting Austin, Founder and President of Kesteloot Excavation!
Originally from Marshall, Minnesota, Austin attended South Dakota State University, where he studied Agricultural Education. Before becoming a business owner, he spent four years teaching shop and Career and Technical Education (CTE) in the Madison School District. Teaching strengthened his communication and management skills and reinforced the importance of building relationships with people.
Austin's path into excavation began long before KX. Growing up cattle farming, he learned the value of hard work and operating equipment at a young age. He entered the heavy civil industry in 2016 while attending college, developing a reputation for tackling challenging projects and finding solutions when others see obstacles.
Challenges early in life instilled a strong sense of determination and self-reliance that continue to influence his approach to business. Guided by his faith, Austin strives to lead with integrity and build something meaningful for his family and community.
In 2021, Austin recognized a growing need for a local commercial contractor in Madison and decided to take the leap into business ownership. Leaving his full-time teaching career to run Kesteloot Excavation was one of his biggest milestones. Today, he oversees employees and projects, works directly with customers, and helps guide the company's continued growth.
Austin believes that integrity, honest communication, and strong relationships are the foundation of a successful business. And while KX's work continues to expand beyond Madison, staying committed to his community remains a priority. He's excited to see KX projects become lasting infrastructure.
A few things you might not know about Austin:
🎣 Days off: Fishing, hunting, golfing, and relaxing on his 13-piece patio set (a 12-pack and a lawn chair😂)
👑 Fun fact: His kids and employees have a name for his wife: “the big boss.”
For Austin, Kesteloot Excavation is about more than completing projects; it's about investing in people and building a business grounded in faith, integrity, and commitment to his community. We're thankful for Austin's innovation, leadership, and continued support for his team. There's a reason he was selected as Madison's 2025 "Employer of the Year!"👷🏻
