After what felt like weeks of rain, cloudy skies, and soggy weekends, Mother Nature finally decided to cooperate… and she delivered one of the most beautiful evenings we’ve seen all year.

Friday’s 2026 Madison Wood Fishing Tournament was everything we hoped for and more. Great weather, great fishing, and even better company. Employees, friends, spouses, kids, and family members lined the pond banks for an evening filled with laughs, competition, and plenty of fish stories that may or may not get bigger with time. 😆

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the event such a success. Events like these remind us that Madison Wood is more than a job, it’s a community.

🐟 Ricky May – 3 inches (proof that every fish counts!)

From first casts to sunset reflections on the water, it was one of those evenings that reminds you how special simple moments can be.

Already looking forward to next year’s tournament. Until then, keep those lines tight and those fish tales flowing!

After what felt like weeks of rain, the sun finally showed back up and the kilns are full at Madison Wood.

Beautiful skies overhead and KDAT lumber coming out of the kilns today, getting loaded up and headed your way.

Kiln Dried After Treatment (KDAT) helps reduce excess moisture, minimizing shrinkage, warping, cupping, twisting, and checking while also allowing you to paint or stain your project immediately instead of waiting on wet treated lumber to dry out on-site.

It’s that time of year again!

Staining or painting a deck isn’t just about color… it’s about protecting your investment.

A long-lasting finish starts with the right process:

✔️ Thoroughly clean the surface, and allow to dry for 24-48 hours

✔️ Make sure moisture levels are where they need to be (aim for 19%, or stain/paint manufacturer’s recommendation, which is sometimes 15%)

✔️ Apply in the right conditions. Ideal temperatures 50-85 degrees, on cloudy/shady days.

✔️ Maintain it over time. UV Protectants are recommended with stains and/or clear coats.

Full sun decks may need attention every 1–2 years, while shaded decks can often go 3–4 years between re-coats. Proper prep and maintenance make all the difference in performance and appearance over the long haul.

Time for another Meet the Team spotlight at Madison Wood Preservers!

This week we’re featuring our Central Territory Manager, Jeremy Hoon.

As a Territory Manager, Jeremy is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, and supporting our customers in the field, while helping identify opportunities for growth throughout his territory. Whether he’s visiting customers, walking lumberyards, or out on jobsites, one of Jeremy’s favorite parts of the industry is seeing Madison Wood products being used in real-world projects and knowing he played a role in helping bring those builds to life.

Jeremy also enjoys helping educate customers on common misconceptions within the lumber industry, especially when it comes to grading. While many people judge a board strictly by appearance, Jeremy is quick to point out that a great deal of lumber grading is based on structural strength and performance characteristics.

Outside of work, Jeremy spends most of his time with his two daughters, Chloe and Camille, which usually means weekends at the soccer fields. He’s also a dedicated Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Phillies fan, and some of his favorite evenings are the simple one… spending time outdoors, watching the kids play, and enjoying a couple of cold ones with the neighbors.

Jeremy appreciates that no two days in this industry are ever the same, and he takes pride in helping customers find the right products and solutions for their projects while continuing to build long-term relationships along the way.
