This week's Falcon Friday is a special one. Meet the newest members of MGE’s falcon family! 🦅
Two peregrine falcon chicks hatched in mid-May at our Blount Generating Station—and now they have names: Honey and Monarch! 🐝🦋
This year’s names are inspired by pollinators, recognizing the important role bees, butterflies and other pollinators play in our ecosystem. Honey (a female) is named for honey bees, while Monarch (a male) honors monarch butterflies.
Pollinators are vital to helping plants grow and produce food, but their habitats are shrinking. That’s why MGE is working to support them by planting native flowers and creating pollinator-friendly habitats at our solar sites—and even welcoming honey bees to our O’Brien Solar Fields in Fitchburg this spring.
These two chicks are part of a long legacy—more than 60 falcons have hatched at MGE since 2009!
