The charism of the School Sisters of St. Francis is to discern the will of God in the needs of the times, responding wherever the Spirit leads us. Our faith-filled work includes care of the earth, as demonstrated here by the installation of solar panels in our Assisi Province in South India. The electricity generated enables our sisters to economically and reliably cool classrooms and living spaces, and power students’ computers.

By the end of 2025, Sun Vault Roofing will be on track to complete seven solar shingle projects across Wisconsin, totaling roughly 62 kW. Check out our newest member solar installer!

Sun Vault Roofing, who specializes in building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar roofs, became a Legacy Solar Co-op member in April 2025.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Heartland Farm Sanctuary is celebrating their recently-installed 3 solar arrays totaling 50.22 kW with the help of Legacy Solar Co-op. Installed by Full Spectrum Solar, these arrays are expected to generate over 60,000 kWh of clean energy each year and more than $8,000 in annual saving.

We hope that these three arrays will help Heartland Farm Sanctuary continue to serve the community by helping local animals and connecting them with people.

Welcome us in congratulating the City of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA on becoming the first Wisconsin municipality to get to 100% renewable electricity! All city-powered infrastructure is now powered by energy that comes from natural resources.

The city also reported that about 40 homes and businesses install solar in the city each year, contributing to a broader transition to clean energy.

The City of Sun Prairie is now the first municipality in Wisconsin to achieve 100% renewable energy for all city operations.

🌞 Celebrating 4 years of solar for Kathy's House, a hospital guest house in the Milwaukee area.😎

In March 2021, Arch Electric installed a 77-kilowatt solar array of 200 flush-mounted panels on a 20/25-degree tilt on the two largest, south-facing roof areas of the new building.

Legacy Solar Co-op provided a thorough cost-benefit analysis, connected Kathy’s House to other organizations that had recently installed solar panels, and provided education on what to expect. In addition, LSC helped them select installers and introduced them to other community organizations that assisted with marketing and fund raising.

The Capital Times covered Deerfield, WI as an example of how solar can save money for rural Wisconsin communities. Cal Couillard from the Couillard Solar Foundation was interviewed on how his family has helped his community save over $700,000 thus far from multiple solar arrays there.
