You’ve probably seen the phrase “EPA-certified lab” when looking at water testing.

But what does that actually mean?

An EPA-certified laboratory means the lab is required to follow strict government-approved testing methods, routinely prove its accuracy through blind sample testing, and undergo ongoing audits to maintain certification.

In other words, the lab has to consistently demonstrate that its results are accurate, reliable, and scientifically defensible.

What many homeowners don’t realize is that not all water testing is performed by EPA-certified labs. That doesn’t automatically make those tests bad, but it does mean the level of oversight and accountability may be very different between labs.

When it comes to something as important as your drinking water, the quality of the testing process matters just as much as the results themselves.

At Safe Home Test Kits, we believe everyone deserves access to the same level of professional testing used for regulated water systems. But in a format that’s simple and easy to understand.

Glyphosate is one of the most widely used herbicides in agriculture—and it can make its way into drinking water through runoff and groundwater.

Because glyphosate has no taste, color, or odor, testing is the only way to know if it’s present.

There are two main options:
• DIY test kits for fast, affordable screening at home
• Laboratory testing for exact concentrations and documentation

Many homeowners and well owners use DIY testing for routine monitoring and follow up with lab analysis if a detection occurs.

Understanding your testing options is the first step toward making informed water treatment decisions and avoiding unnecessary filtration costs.

Bought a house with a water well?
Your water isn’t being tested or treated by a utility anymore, and many new well owners don’t realize that.
Here’s what you should know:.

Well water can be safe to drink, but it must be tested regularly. Homeowners should test annually for nitrates, metals, and chemicals, and test for bacteria at least quarterly or after flooding or repairs.

As you set health-focused New Year’s resolutions, one thing that’s often overlooked is your water.

Testing your home’s water gives you a clear breakdown of what you’re drinking and can identify potential contaminants like lead, arsenic, pesticides, and more. With that information, you can make informed decisions about filtration or other solutions, helping you protect your household’s health in 2026.
