Good food, friendly competition, and a great cause! 🎯

Our Power Delivery Substation team recently hosted a Co****le Fundraiser Tournament benefiting Isaiah 117 House, bringing Associates together for an afternoon of fun! Guests enjoyed hamburgers, corn dogs, and a popcorn bar (YUM) while supporting an organization that makes a difference in the lives of children and families.

Congratulations to tournament champions Kyle Phillips (Knoxville) and Chuck Longenberger (Newark) on taking home the win!

Last week, Mesa Associates celebrated the grand opening of our Little Free Library in the Waterstone Neighborhood. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, the library is stocked with books collected through our company book drive, along with handmade bookmarks created during our build day.

From donating books to assembling the library and filling its shelves, our team was proud to help bring this project to life. We hope this Little Free Library encourages a love of reading, inspires connections between neighbors, and provides a welcoming place for stories to be shared for years to come.

Clean Currents 2026 Recap! 🌊 One of the top presentations featured Mesa's own Boualem Hadjerioua, highlighting how engineering innovation can protect critical environmental resources while ensuring reliable hydropower operations.

In "Saving an Island to Provide Environmental Flows for Fish Habitat - A TVA Success Story," Bo joined Jeffrey Ogden of TVA to share the story of Hibbs Island, a 10.6-acre island located below Norris Dam on the Clinch River in Tennessee.

As years of high-flow releases threatened to erode the island and compromise a vital reregulating weir system, TVA and Mesa Associates worked together to develop a solution that would preserve the island, protect aquatic habitat, and maintain the minimum downstream flows that support the river's renowned fishery.

Through detailed hydrodynamic analysis and innovative low-impact construction methods, the team successfully stabilized the island and restored the weir's intended function, ensuring environmental flows for miles of downstream aquatic life while creating a replicable model for other utilities facing similar challenges.

Bo also contributed to discussions on the future of hydropower through the EPRI Workshop – Print, Validate, Generate: Additive Manufacturing Opportunities and Considerations, exploring how emerging technologies can support more efficient and resilient power generation infrastructure.
