A herringbone pattern gives this Madison wet bar just the right amount of personality. ✨

The glossy blue tile adds movement, texture, and color, while the clean quartz countertop keeps the overall look balanced.

Smaller spaces like a wet bar can be a great place to introduce a bolder material or pattern without overwhelming the room.

What if your kitchen barely looked like a kitchen? 👀

The “anti-kitchen” design approach is gaining attention for its ability to conceal many of the features we typically associate with a kitchen. Think panel-ready appliances, hidden storage, flush cabinetry, integrated lighting, and clean surfaces that allow the kitchen to blend seamlessly with the surrounding living spaces.

Achieving that streamlined look takes careful planning. Storage, appliances, lighting, ventilation, cabinetry, and even electrical and plumbing locations all need to work together from the beginning.

In our latest blog, we explore how the hidden-kitchen approach works, what it takes to execute it well, and whether it could be a good fit for your Madison-area home.

Would you hide almost everything, or keep a few statement kitchen features on display?

Coffee brewing. Lunches half-packed. Someone searching for a missing shoe. Suddenly, everyone is standing in the same three feet of kitchen.

That's when you find out whether your kitchen is truly working for you.

Thoughtful design considers traffic flow, landing zones, storage, lighting, and the routines that happen every single day. Small decisions made during the design phase can make busy mornings feel far less hectic.

A well-designed kitchen isn't just enjoyable to look at. It supports the way you live, from rushed weekday mornings to relaxed weekends with family and friends.

What's the biggest frustration you experience in your kitchen during a busy morning?

Not every old feature needs to be removed, and not every original detail deserves to stay.

The art is knowing the difference.

A thoughtful remodel can preserve the character that makes a home meaningful while improving everything that no longer supports the people living there.

We’re not interested in erasing a home’s story. We want to help write its next chapter.

If you were remodeling an older home, what original feature would you make every effort to preserve?

Not every popular remodeling idea is the right one for your home.

• A bigger island that leaves little room to move.
• Open shelving when you prefer a clutter-free kitchen.
• Removing every wall because open concept is trending.
• Choosing a finish that looks beautiful but requires constant upkeep.
• Giving up valuable storage for a design feature you'll rarely use.

Thoughtful design means looking beyond what's popular and considering how each decision will affect the way you live every day.

That's why we ask questions, explore alternatives, and help homeowners make choices they'll still appreciate years from now.

Have you ever loved a design trend, then realized it wasn't right for your home?

You may not want the exact kitchen in your inspiration photo.

You might be drawn to the feeling it creates.

The warmth of the wood.
The calm created by hidden storage.
The symmetry around the range.
The soft glow of layered lighting.
The balance of polished and natural materials.

The most memorable kitchens are shaped by the emotions they evoke, then thoughtfully tailored to the people who live in them.

That's where great design begins.

Before you add square footage, take a closer look at the space you already have.

The oversized hallway.
The dining room no one uses.
The kitchen island that gets in the way.
The closet that's always full but never organized.

A thoughtful redesign can often unlock potential that's been there all along, improving the way your home functions without increasing its footprint.

Which space in your home feels like it could be put to better use?

Sometimes the square footage you need is already there. It just needs to be reimagined.

For this remodel, two small bedrooms were reimagined into a spacious walk-in closet and a serene primary bathroom designed to complement the home's timeless Craftsman character.

Every detail was chosen with purpose, from the wet room with its clawfoot tub and open shower to the custom cabinetry, polished nickel fixtures, and classic finishes that create a space that feels both elegant and effortlessly functional.

The result is a primary suite that offers more room, better flow, and a relaxing place to begin and end each day.

Which feature would be at the top of your wish list: a spacious walk-in closet, a wet room, or a freestanding tub?

A thoughtfully chosen mirror can completely transform a room. ✨

Beyond its everyday function, the right mirror can reflect more light, make a space feel larger, and add personality to the overall design.

Brio Lighting offers anti-fog LED vanity mirrors and decorative wall mirrors in black, gold, and clear finishes to complement a variety of styles.

Which room in your home could benefit most from the right mirror?
