New article in PV-Tech from our own Hossein Ghoveisi, Manager of Civil Engineering at Castillo.

Hossein makes the case for bringing flood risk into solar design early. He shares a project where a six-inch racking elevation change was needed late in design, after 100,000 piles were already planned. That one fix added $700,000 to $1,000,000 in steel costs. Catching it earlier would have cost almost nothing.

Water doesn't care about your site boundary; it moves across the whole watershed, and projects that only model their own footprint get surprised by upstream development or an old culvert they never checked.
