Throwing it back to one of the true legends of the crane and shovel world — the mighty Northwest 180-D Series II. 💪

We were digging through some old product literature and found this original Northwest Engineering brochure packed with specs, features, and even a competitive comparison against the Bucyrus-Erie 88B Series IV. Back when machines were built from heavy steel, powered by massive Murphy diesels, and designed to work day in and day out in the toughest conditions imaginable.

Some standout specs from the 180-D Series II:
• 97.5 Ton crane rating
• 5 yd. shovel capacity
• Murphy AU-1360 turbocharged diesel pushing 358 HP
• Alloy steel castings throughout the travel base and rotating base
• Cushion-Air controls and independent boom hoist

Throwing it back to the early days of Crane Specialists, Inc. — when Northwest drag lines ruled the jobsite, the old bread service truck doubled as a mobile shop, and every repair, move, and build was done the hard way. No shortcuts. Just manual labor, long hours, and the old school way of getting it done.

These photos are a reminder of where it all started and the work ethic that built us into who we are today. Proud of the past, and even prouder of how far we have come.
