This Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude the brave men and women who laid down their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice calls us not only to remembrance, but to honor the fallen, cherish the freedoms we've been given, and turn our hearts toward the Lord in prayer for our nation.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12

The MBI recently announced the election of Matt Slataper as its new President of the Board of Directors for the association. Matt will serve a one-year term as board chair, continuing a strong tradition of leadership from Ramtech which has previously provided MBI presidents including Bob Houchin, Mike Slataper, Linc Moss, and Roland Brown.

Matt addressed his appointment by putting out this statement:

“Stepping into this role as board chair of the Modular Building Institute is both an honor and a responsibility I take seriously. I have grown up around this industry, and I have seen firsthand how modular construction continues to prove its value. That experience gives me a deep appreciation for where we have come from, but even more importantly, it gives me real optimism for where we as an industry are headed.”

Congrats Matt! You’re following a great legacy of Ramtech leaders which also includes our very own Kelly Williams. We know the MBI Board will continue to be in good hands.

Last week Ramtech exhibited for the first time in several years at the 2026 World of Modular Conference at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to promote our relocatable and permanent modular construction offerings for the education, healthcare, commercial, and government markets. In addition, we also debuted our modular construction capabilities to meet the commercial modular housing requirements for multi-family apartments, student housing, hospitality properties, assisted living facilities, and specialty housing units. Ramtech’s Matt Slataper, Kelly Williams, and Jade Pulfer were all on hand to meet with the growing numbers of developers, owners, architects, and investors who are now attending the conference each year and are active in these markets.

The World of Modular Conference and Trade Show, hosted by the Modular Building Institute, continues to grow and is the world’s premier commercial modular construction event. First held in 1983, it now hosts over 2,000 U.S. and international attendees from across the modular and offsite construction industries. The four-day gathering features high-impact programming, expert speakers from North America, Europe, and Asia, convenient exhibit hall hours, and unmatched opportunities for domestic and global networking and business development.

As a full-service design-build construction company, Ramtech has developed many keys to our success since our founding 44 years ago. Our experience in providing for every element in the design, manufacturing, and construction of commercial modular buildings has allowed us to build a reputation as the premier modular construction company in the Southwest.

With a resume now over 5,000 successfully completed projects, Ramtech continues to be an industry leader and innovator in the development of high quality relocatable and permanent modular buildings. This success would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts and years of experience of our team members, some of whom have been with us for most of their professional careers.

We’d like to take this time to recognize the following team members that celebrated their Ramtech milestone anniversaries with us during the fourth quarter of 2025:

40 Years: Miguel Echeveste
20 Years: Jose Chavez

We’d also like to congratulate Miguel “Reyes” Echeveste on his well-deserved retirement after 40 years as a key contributor in every area at RMD, and occasionally in the field as an RBS crew member. From all of us at Ramtech, we thank you for your years of dedicated service in helping to make Ramtech Building Systems the company we are today.

Last month Ramtech had the opportunity to photograph the new Mitsubishi sales office we built for Payne Auto Group at their Brownsville, TX location prior to the facility’s Thanksgiving weekend opening.

Payne sought to strengthen its dealership network in the rapidly growing Rio Grande Valley area of South Texas by adding a new Mitsubishi sales office adjacent to their Volkswagen dealership. The company was required to have a standalone facility which became the fifth project that they contracted with Ramtech to build. We adapted the previous modular sales office designs we developed for them to deliver a value-engineered solution that provided scaled cost savings for both the current building and any future expansions.

The facility features private offices, a spacious showroom, customer lounge, and service support areas, with all interior finishes adhering to the Mitsubishi Motors Visual Identity Manual. The site-completed elements include corporate signage, an extended fascia, a covered service carport, and an illuminated entrance gate with LED feature lighting that enhances brand visibility along the main highway frontage road.

The building was crane-set on a modified pier-and-beam foundation and engineered for Texas Department of Insurance Wind Zone 1 (140 mph) standards and includes a zero-step threshold to bring the building flush to grade. The centerpiece of the new facility is the indoor showroom which can display two vehicles on the tiled floor and is reinforced with supplemental would joist sub-girts which can support concentrated live loads over 6,000 lbs. per vehicle.

Ramtech recently returned to the aircraft maintenance and flight training facility we constructed for U.S. Aviation Academy in San Marcos, TX where we installed a 6,962 sq ft building adjacent to the company’s existing hangar at San Marcos Regional Airport. The L-shaped building incorporates an indented wall to clear the hangar door frame while also optimizing the interior spatial efficiency. It includes five classrooms, four offices, a conference room, and breakroom area. The exterior features a faux stone wainscot with a full-height entry feature wall for refined curb appeal look.

The installation of the building overcame very tight access by using an 8,000-lb extended boom forklift in tandem with TransLift carriers. This allowed a precise setting of the modules on CMU block piers over a pad-on-grade foundation. The building is compliant with the 2015 IECC, and incorporates R-30 roof/floor and R-21 wall insulation, high-efficiency Bard wall-mounted HVAC units, and a reflective 60-mil white EPDM roof for reduced energy consumption in the Texas climate.
