It’s been a busy few months and we haven’t had much time to post pics. But this work deserves to be hanging on the refrigerator!

This homeowner bought an oceanfront house in Rodanthe, only to find some serious issues right away. Being this close to the ocean comes with some of best views imaginable with the ocean almost hitting the pilings. However, the salt and constant wind took its toll.

After the first contractor tore the upper decks and handrails off, he saw the insane amounts of rot, and well, pretty much tucked tail and hit the road. Talk about not having the fortitude to see it through!

Take a look at these pics and you’ll see how the house looked on day 1….and also you’ll see why the first guy bailed out fast!!! I’ve never in my life seen rot so deep. We replaced EVERY single stud and every sheet of plywood on both the North and East walls with all pressure treated lumber and sheathing. The owner, being pretty cool to say the least, took this fairly bad situation and turned it into a chance to make some serious upgrades. So, we reframed every existing window and door, and added 9 more windows while the walls were open. Then installed Factory Finished LP Smart Lap Siding and Trim. In my opinion, this is the very best engineered-wood siding on the market today. And of course, all siding and trim fastened with nothing but stainless steel nails and screws!

Regardless of the environmental conditions and constant salt-air and wind, this home will outlast everyone reading this post, and then some!!! I’ll post some finished pics soon!

The newly installed red cedar shake roof at the Rusty Crow Quilt Shop in Nags Head Village is looking 🔥🔥AMAZING!!!!

Not only did the roofing project turn out extraordinarily well, but we finished well before their grand opening!!!!

It’s amazing at what a little paint, flooring, and some updates can do to transform the look of a house!

Once the kitchen and bath updates are complete, this rental will be move-in ready and is already looking quite classy!
