Summer sometimes feels like a never ending Odyssey - but we’re here to help explain why your energy bills get higher and ways to help keep them lower!

High summer temps mean your AC works harder than ever, leading to higher electric bills, even if you set your thermostat to a higher temp. If your thermostat is set to 80, there is still a 20 degree gap it has to meet to be cooler than the 100 degrees outside. That’s a big difference! Plus, walls, roofs, and windows absorb heat all day, forcing your AC to keep working after the sun goes down.

How can you help mitigate this?

-Use your ceiling fans to cool rooms by up to 4 degrees when you’re in them
-Close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day
-Limit appliance heat like ovens and stoves
-Check your air filter to make sure your AC is running efficiently

Happy August! August looks a little different in the desert. While it doesn’t quite signal the shift towards fall (still 100 degree temps 😅), we love the beautiful green that comes from monsoon season! 🌵

Our lineworkers are essential to the safety and wellbeing of our communities. We are thankful for all they do and are proud to support the passage of these additional protections!
