Long before streaming and multiplexes, Key West’s Strand Theater brought the magic of Hollywood to the Florida Keys. Opening by 1921 at 527 Duval Street, it became the first purpose-built movie theater in the Keys, captivating audiences with its striking Art Deco design, grand lobby, and glowing marquee. For decades, it was the island’s premier entertainment destination before later becoming a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium in 1993. Although the theater closed in 2002 and the building now houses a Walgreens, its historic façade, iconic marquee, and original tile floors remain preserved as a tribute to the Keys’ cinematic past.

Great review from Kevin... "Rapid Permits was excellent! I gave them a call, they met me on site the next day. Two weeks later they submitted for the permit. Three weeks later we had the permit. Rapid Permitting put the Boat lift out to several bidders to get the best quality/price. This is my fourth Boat Lift and Rapid Permits, by far are the most responsible and communicative permitting business I have worked with."

As a huge fan of all things Florida Key History it is always cool to be able to work on a project with so much of it. For this project we will be installing a new concrete slab over an existing seawall on the side of the original abutments poured for the overseas railroad 7 mile bridge. The concrete work they were able to do in the late 1800’s early 1900’s is incredible. So incredible in fact that we are able to reuse this existing seawall today even after over 100 years of sun and saltwater exposure.
