The furnace had been running for less than five minutes when the smell of burning plastic filled the hallway 🔥

Lauren smelt a dusty odor the first time she turned on the heat. But this smell was sharp and getting stronger. When the furnace began cutting in and out, she shut it down, opened a few windows, and called for help instead of taking the chance.

When Bell Heating & Air arrived, we found a loose electrical connection near the blower assembly that had begun overheating. We repaired the damaged connection, inspected the surrounding wiring, and tested the system through a complete heating cycle. Before long, the furnace was running safely, and the only thing left in the air was relief.

Bell Heating & Air's roots are more than local. We started right here in Central Wisconsin 👏

I (Steve) grew up on the east side of Wausau, Tara is from Stratford, and somewhere along the way we planted ourselves over in Marathon. So when I say Bell is local, I don’t mean it in the generic way. These are the towns we drive through, live in, shop in, and care about.

This changes the way I look at the work we do. When I pull into a driveway, it doesn’t feel like just another stop. It feels like helping a neighbor make their home comfortable again. Personal, rooted, and built around taking care of the people right here around us. That’s the kind of company I have always wanted Bell Heating & Air to be 💯

If your air conditioner is blowing air that's "only" 20 degrees cooler than your home, that's actually a good sign 🙆‍♂️💪

Many homeowners expect the air coming out of their vents to feel ice cold, but that's not how an air conditioner is designed to work. Most residential systems cool the air by about 15–20 degrees as it passes through the evaporator coil. So if your home is 75 degrees, it's completely normal for the air coming from your vents to be around 55–60 degrees. Your system is designed to steadily remove heat and humidity from your home over time to create consistent comfort.

If your vents are delivering air that's much warmer than expected, or your home never seems to reach the thermostat setting, it's worth having your system inspected. I didn’t just want to run calls. I wanted to understand the whole machine ⚙️🪛

There was a point in my career where I realized being good in the field wasn’t enough for me anymore. I wanted to know more than how to fix the system. I wanted to understand how jobs were planned, how crews were led, how homeowners were communicated with, how billing worked, and how a business actually ran behind the scenes.

That curiosity is a big part of what eventually pushed me toward starting Bell Heating & Air. I didn’t want to spend my whole career only seeing one side of the work. I wanted to be involved from the first phone call to the final walk-through, and build a company where the quality of the work and the way people are treated both matter 🙌

Their furnace worked, but comfort was still missing... 🌡️

When the first chilly nights of fall arrived, Daniel noticed something strange. The bedrooms upstairs were getting uncomfortably warm, but the living room downstairs still felt cold. Every thermostat adjustment fixed one floor while making the other worse, and the furnace seemed to run far longer than it should.

Daniel called Bell Heating & Air, and we discovered that a motorized damper in the home’s zoning system had become stuck. Warm air was being directed upstairs even when the downstairs was calling for heat. We repaired the damper and balanced the airflow throughout the home. That evening, every room reached the right temperature and the family finally stopped fighting over the thermostat.
