Honoring Kenny Spafford’s Legacy

Kenny Spafford, a beloved member of our Downtown Marion family, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025. For years, Kenny could be found sweeping the sidewalks, greeting everyone with kindness, and selflessly giving back—not just to Downtown Marion, but to nonprofits across Ohio. Now, it's our turn to give back to him.

Help Us Lay Kenny to Rest

Downtown Marion, Inc. is collecting donations to help cover Kenny’s funeral expenses. All funds raised will be delivered directly to the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Every dollar makes a difference in giving Kenny the dignified farewell he deserves. (Any unused funds will be used for a memorial park bench and memorial tree in Downtown Marion.)

We are so sad to hear of Kenny’s passing. We had many conversations with him as he cleaned our windows and it was a privilege to know him. His memory was a steel trap - never forgeting anything or anyone. I’ll miss his Christmas & birthday lists & his love of talking sports. He sure was a true gem that loved his community.

All of us at Downtown Marion, Inc. are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kenny Spafford. If you’ve spent any time in Downtown Marion over the years, chances are you’ve seen Kenny—broom in hand—walking the sidewalks and quietly making our downtown a cleaner, more welcoming place.

Kenny truly knew no stranger. He was a dedicated supporter of our community—whether attending local sporting events, volunteering at the Marion Palace Theatre, or showing up for nearly every local 5K. His heart for service and love for Marion touched countless lives.

Thank you, Kenny, for your kindness, your commitment, and your ever-present smile. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all of Downtown Marion.

We’ve been in business for 55 years because of all of you and our outstanding employees and are grateful for your confidence and trust in us all this time. Another reminder to the importance of clearing the snow from your furnace exhaust & intake! Something as simple as this can ensure your furnace stays running in these cold temps!

Snow predictions are in the double digits, up to 20”, from local news outlets.
Please make sure your inlet and exhaust for your furnace, water heater, or any other appliance is cleared of all snow and ice.
If they become blocked by snow they can cause deadly carbon monoxide to build up in your house.

Effective immediately and until further notice, we will no longer be offering our after hours emergency service. It’s no secret the service & skilled trades industry has been experiencing a lack of workers and we are not immune to this. We apologize we cannot provide this service anymore, but please call us 8am - 5 pm Monday - Friday for all of your heating & cooling needs.

Information needed in a hit & run that happened Wednesday, March 16, 2022 on Davids St between Bellefontaine Ave & Keener Ave at 11:30am. A driver in our company van (Wenigs Inc) was southbound on Davids St when they were side swiped by a silver Honda Civic that was northbound & went left of center. The Civic did not stop & continued northbound on Davids St. It will have front end/driver side damage and a possible flat tire. If you saw this incident, have video from your property in the area, have seen or have information on the silver car or person driving it, please call us at 740-383-5012. Thank you
