Plum Crazy Robotics We are one stop shop for HANDS-ON, ROBOTICS, CODING, ELECTRONICS and Maker CLASSES. Who is Plum Crazy Robotics? We are a LOCAL robotics and technology school.

Our goal is to teach kids robotics and be the best robotics school in the Marlboro, NJ area. Have you, your child or anyone you know ever wanted to learn to build robots. In our upcoming class, we will build a VEX Robot and learn robotic programming. After the student builds their very own VEX robot kit, they will get to take it home with them after the class is over… it is theirs to keep for futu

re robotic programming courses, our robotics competitions and our Robotics club! Send us your information so we can put you down to receive our ROBO-newsletter, the The Daily Robot. Get your child involved, this will be an amazing Monmouth County STEM class!

🔥 GREGORY RESURRECTION — BUILT BY KIDS -- VIDEO #4!
If you’ve been following Gregory’s comeback… this is where it gets EPIC.
Gregory is a 30+ year-old industrial SCORBOT we’re bringing back to life using modern tech, fresh wiring, motor drivers, and custom code.

And the best part?
Students of almost ANY age are helping rebuild him.
Wiring, coding, mechanical work — everything.

What was completed in Video #4:
• ⚙️ Full synchronized arm motion
• 🔄 180° wrist twist + gripper flip
• 🦾 Shoulder + elbow coordination
• ⚡ Stability tuning to reduce creep
• 🔌 Real robotics & makerspace engineering (NOT a kit)

Why it matters:
Kids learn REAL:
• Electronics
• Wiring
• Troubleshooting
• Code
• Mechanical assembly
• Robotics logic
• Engineering design

What’s coming next:
• 🛞 Gregory’s base rebuild — the FINAL major joint
• 🤯 “Gregory’s Brother” — a chess-playing robot with computer vision
• 🎥 Video #5: Full-body motion test

🔥 Gregory is a 30+ year-old industrial robot… and our students just brought him back to life.
His motors, wiring, control logic, and joints have all been retrofitted with brand-new technology — piece by piece — until he moves like he did decades ago. 🤖⚡

This is REAL robotics.
REAL makerspace engineering.
And YES… Gregory now has fans.
You can follow his resurrection story right here.

What’s next?
➡️ Restore Gregory’s base
➡️ Program full-body motion
➡️ Build Gregory a brother — a chess-playing robot using computer vision

The BEST part?
The kids helped make it happen.
This week at Plum Crazy Robotics, our students got to:
• Use real multimeters to trace bad wiring
• Learn how to identify motor failures
• Watch a stripped motor get replaced
• See how dual-motor systems work
• Help test voltage, continuity, and polarity
• Understand how gears, belts & torque actually work
• Troubleshoot a 1980s robot like real engineers
• And celebrate when Gregory’s claw finally rotated again 🎉

We didn’t “just fix a robot.”
We gave kids REAL hands-on engineering experience most adults never get.

And yes — when the claw started “inching forward” like the robot was trying to escape, the kids LOST IT 😂

Gregory’s resurrection continues tomorrow — and the students will be the ones powering the comeback.

We brought a 35-year-old dead robot arm back to life tonight. No big deal. 🤖⚡

⚡🤖 GREGORY THE ROBOT: THE RESURRECTION – PART II ⚙️

Every great comeback takes time… and tonight, another piece of Gregory the Scorbot comes back to life.
Our students have been working deep inside his wrist — gears, belts, and motors everywhere — and today we found the problem:

🦾 One of Gregory’s wrist motors had completely locked up.
When we tried to help it move, the internal gear teeth crumbled like candy 🍬 (R.I.P little gears).
The belt drive? Perfectly smooth.
The motor? Toasted. 🔥

But that’s OK… because this is The Resurrection, not the end.

🧰 Tonight’s mission:

Remove the broken motor 🪛

Install a new one from our spare parts bin ⚙️

Realign the belts

Prep for full dual-motor wrist control next week

No fireworks yet… just the next vital heartbeat in Gregory’s rebuild. ❤️‍🔥
Piece by piece, wire by wire, our students are learning real-world robotics repair — the kind that even grown-up engineers don’t get to do every day.

Stay tuned for Episode III: The Wrist Awakens 👀
Because once those motors sync up, Gregory’s claw will finally rise again. 🤖✨

Project ROBOT Resurrection: Our SCORBOT ER-3 Is Alive Again!

This industrial training robot arm was headed for the scrap pile… so at Plum Crazy Robotics, a hands-on robotics lab for kids and teens, we ripped out the old controller and brought it back to life with an Arduino Mega and three L298 motor drivers.

The arm can now move under our own code — base, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and gripper — and this is just Episode 1 of the build:

Phase 1: Mapping every motor & bringing all joints online

Phase 2: Python control interface talking to the Arduino, so students can drive the arm from a laptop

Phase 3: Computer vision pick-and-place and advanced automation

We’re turning this SCORBOT into a full teaching tool: kids and teens learn how to diagnose old hardware, re-wire it with Arduino, and then control it with real Python code.

💜 If you want your child learning real robotics, electronics, and coding—not just kits—this is what we do every week at Plum Crazy Robotics.
