The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is sharing a new, free resource to help livestock and poultry owners strengthen biosecurity as we enter spring movement and fair season. PremisesMapper, developed by the National Farm Medicine Center with input from DATCP, allows producers to quickly create accurate, standardized premises maps, an important part of biosecurity plans and often required during responses to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and other foreign animal disease investigations. https://rfdash.org/PremisesMapper/

The tool provides an easy way to mark lines of separation, access points, cleaning and disinfecting stations, carcass removal routes, and other key features. Producers can export a PDF to include in their biosecurity plan and easily update maps as operations change.

This work is the product of Matt Pilz and Jakob Hanschu’s tremendous knowledge and effort. Thank you for this amazing tool to help keep farms and farmers safe.

Jill Steckbauer from the Sanford Foundation-Marshfield and Dr. Jennifer Meece attended the quarterly meeting of the 100+ Women’s Club. In February, based on the work and Jill’s skilled sharing of the impact that having Oncology Research available to our Marshfield patients in northern WI and the UP of Michigan, the 100+ women chose Cancer Care as their donation for the quarter. From that gift, we have received over $16,000.00 from this group of outstanding women. Thank you for the gift and for the commitment you all have to your community.

The Fritz Wenzel Translational Research Endowment continues to play an important role in supporting clinical research and expanding access to innovative care for patients in our region. Contributions from the Wenzel family help provide the foundation needed to explore new clinical trial opportunities, strengthen research infrastructure, and support thoughtful growth. Over the past year, this support has enabled continued progress in evaluating and advancing studies aligned with key clinical priorities, while fostering collaboration with clinicians and research partners. It has also helped enhance our ability to engage providers and build capacity for future research initiatives. Together, these efforts are strengthening a sustainable clinical research program focused on improving patient care and access to new treatment options over time. Without such support, making research clinical trials accessible to our local patients would not be possible. In 2025, the Fritz Wenzel Center for Clinical Research enrolled 204 patients and continued to follow another 260 patients who remain in active follow up on trials.
