When flow conditions vary on a job, a standard centrifugal pump (without vacuum-assist) can be at risk. Residual fluid left inside the casing can vaporize if flow becomes inconsistent. And that risk doesn't always announce itself until something's already wrong.

A few things every crew should know:

⚠️ Pumping projects with variable flow should use pumps rated for dry operation, or automated controls that respond before things go sideways
⚠️ Don't assume a pump is safe to disconnect just because it's stopped running — verify the casing and hose connections have actually cooled first
