Some products have a story worth recasting.
In 1999, Marc Robinson and Jurgen Maerz set out to solve a challenge familiar to platinum casters at the time: creating a casting plaster that could withstand the demands of extremely high-temperature casting while producing cleaner, more reliable results.
With the help of Talladium, Doc Robinson’s Casting Plaster was born.
Originally developed specifically for platinum, Docs’ combination of strength, heat tolerance and faster processing soon made it useful for much more. What once required demanding casting conditions and lengthy production cycles could now be accomplished with crisp results in as little as three hours.
Pictured below are Jurgen Maerz, formerly of the Platinum Guild, on the left, and Marc Robinson, the initial developer of Docs’, on the right. Eddie Harms of Talladium, who also helped bring the product to life, is not pictured.
More than 25 years later, Docs’ remains part of the jewelry industry, and following Ransom & Randolph’s acquisition of Talladium’s gypsum and investment business, it is now part of the R&R story too.
