Building a parking structure sometimes means moving a creek first! 👀🏗️

Walker’s Mark Weiby and Brennan Dukes recently visited the site of a new parking structure supporting Kalamazoo’s upcoming event center. Alongside project partners Barton Malow and CSM Group, they got a firsthand look at construction progress, discussed lessons learned, and addressed questions in the field.

One particularly interesting detail? A creek was temporarily relocated during construction to make way for the structure’s foundations!

It's a great reminder of how much planning and coordination happens long before a project takes its final shape.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Headquarters Campus has been named a 2026 ENR Best Project in the Government/Public Building category!

Located in Raleigh, NC, the campus brings approximately 3,200 state employees together and includes a 1,052-space parking structure, with Walker Consultants serving as the project's parking consultant.
