Conquering steep slopes and making things green! 🌿🚜
Our crawler-mounted Hydroseeder and crawler-mounted Straw Blower have been putting in serious work out on the Chesapeake Bypass along Lawrence State Route 7 in Lawrence County, Ohio. Doing our part to keep this massive project moving forward. 💪☀️
When terrain gets tough, standard equipment just doesn’t cut it. These tracked machines let us safely scale steep, rugged hillsides to get the job done where traditional rigs can’t go:
*Slope Stabilization: Scaling high embankments to lock down soil and prevent erosion before it starts. ⛰️
*Stormwater Management: Protecting surrounding waterways by securing bare earth against rain and runoff. 🌧️🌊
*Permanent Stabilization: Laying down hydroseed slurry and protective straw mulch to establish permanent vegetation across the entire corridor. 🌱🌱

FTR’s team has been covering lots of ground (literally) in Lawrence County. Getting grass 🌱to grown on steep slopes in southern Ohio isn’t an easy task, but with the right equipment, the right seed mixes, and the dedication of a committed crew, we get the job done! Big green moves! 🌿🚜
The Follow the River team just wrapped up work at a local utility site, making the landscape greener, healthier, and built for the future.
We absolutely love partnering with New River Electrical Corp and The Beaver Excavating Co on these site stabilization projects! Once their crews finish the great work they do, we step in to bring the green back. 🤝⚡️🚜
Here is a look at what we accomplished together on this site:
🌳 100+ Trees Planted
We planted over 100 trees ranging from sturdy native Oaks to Arbs (short for Arborvitae—lush, evergreen trees known for providing year-round green coverage, wind resistance, and privacy).
Why it matters: Planting a footprint of 100+ trees creates a natural air filtration system! As these trees grow, their leaves pull carbon dioxide and pollutants right out of the air, trap airborne dust, and pump out fresh oxygen. They also help cool the surrounding area, manage stormwater runoff, and create essential shelter for local wildlife. 🍃💨
💧 40,000 Square Yards of Hydroseeding & Hydromulching
To give you an idea of scale, 40,000 square yards is equal to over 8 full-sized football fields (or roughly 8.2 acres)! 🏈📊
Here is how we covered that much ground:
Hydroseeding: Instead of spreading seed by hand, we spray a specialized blend of seed, water, and nutrients to quickly establish healthy grass over large, tough terrain.
Hydromulching: We follow that up with a protective layer of natural wood-fiber slurry. It acts like a cozy blanket, locking in moisture, protecting seeds from birds, and completely preventing soil erosion while the grass sprouts.
