Okay, seriously... is anybody else building an ark, or are we all just waiting to develop gills? 🐟🗺️ Because at this point, central and southeast Ohio feels less like a state and more like a water park! 🏊‍♂️
Seriously though, we checked the stats, and the last 90 days have been absolutely historic for rainfall around here. We’ve seen nearly double our usual precipitation totals for this time of year, making it one of the wettest periods in recent memory! We are officially over it. 🙄☀️ Despite the challenges, we’re still out here being warriors against sediment and erosion! 🛡️ Our main goal is to keep that muck out of our beautiful streams, rivers, and wetlands—which is super ironic, because right now, those same natural resources are trying their best to set up camp right on our job sites! 😅🚧🚜

Building better connections in Athens! 💚
We always love working on bike paths—especially right here in the beautiful heart of Appalachia! 🏞️
We absolutely loved working as a subcontractor for McKee Paving on the ATH - Columbus Road SUP - Phase 1 project for the City of Athens! McKee Paving & Sealing is a fantastic local business doing incredible work to upgrade mobility corridors throughout our region. Just like this awesome project here in Athens, they’ve been working hard to improve community connections and infrastructure in Nelsonville and Albany, too! 🚜🤝 
This new shared-use path extends the existing Athens bike path from near the New-to-You thrift store and Devil’s Kettle Brewing, running parallel to Columbus Road all the way to the US 33 interchange. It’s bringing fantastic new mobility and safe walking and biking access to the businesses along the corridor! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️
As the SWPPP designer for this project, Follow the River Environmental was on the ground from start to finish:
🔹 Designing the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
🔹 Installing essential erosion and sediment controls throughout the process
🔹 Laying down seed and mulch to leave behind lush, vibrant green grass! 🌱✨
Beyond expanding path access, this project also solved long-standing drainage issues in front of the Harley-Davidson dealership by adding much-needed stormwater controls. Plus, a new sidewalk was installed to connect Harley-Davidson with the businesses directly to the north! 🏍️🛣️
There’s nothing better than making our local communities safer, greener, and more accessible. We love working in Athens! Go Bobcats! 😼💚🐾

Conquering steep slopes and making things green! 🌿🚜
Our crawler-mounted Hydroseeder and crawler-mounted Straw Blower have been putting in serious work out on the Chesapeake Bypass along Lawrence State Route 7 in Lawrence County, Ohio. Doing our part to keep this massive project moving forward. 💪☀️
When terrain gets tough, standard equipment just doesn’t cut it. These tracked machines let us safely scale steep, rugged hillsides to get the job done where traditional rigs can’t go:
*Slope Stabilization: Scaling high embankments to lock down soil and prevent erosion before it starts. ⛰️
*Stormwater Management: Protecting surrounding waterways by securing bare earth against rain and runoff. 🌧️🌊
*Permanent Stabilization: Laying down hydroseed slurry and protective straw mulch to establish permanent vegetation across the entire corridor. 🌱🌱
From bare dirt to thick green cover, we’re proud to bring long-lasting environmental protection to Ohio’s infrastructure! 🍃✨

FTR’s team has been covering lots of ground (literally) in Lawrence County. Getting grass 🌱to grown on steep slopes in southern Ohio isn’t an easy task, but with the right equipment, the right seed mixes, and the dedication of a committed crew, we get the job done!
