UPDATE: Service should be back on for the majority of our consumers. We do have one Circuit off still due to several poles being damaged in the storm. We are working on 2-way feeding the circuit. Hoping to have everyone on soon.

Due to the storms our Trenton Substation is currently down. Crews are en route and hoping to have you back up and running soon!

UPDATE: All power should be back on for our consumers. If you are still without power check your breakers or call our office at 308-345-2500.

Our Airbase and Quick substations north of McCook are down. Crews have been dispatched to find the problem. We will update as we receive more information.

After last week’s storms, our crews discovered a damaged pole in the field. Thanks to quick work, it was repaired before it became a bigger issue.

Living and working in a rural area means we don’t always see every problem right away. If you ever notice a pole that looks damaged or unsafe, please call our office to report it.

We truly appreciate our neighbors helping us keep the system safe and reliable for everyone.

We’re excited to welcome Connor Floyd as our newest Apprentice Lineworker. With three years of experience, plus an Associate of Applied Science in Utility Line from Northeast Community College, Connor brings strong skills and a commitment to quality work. A native of Sutherland, Connor already knows the southwest Nebraska area well and is eager to serve our community.

We sent three high school students to Youth Energy Leadership Camp this year. Camp was held at Camp Comeca near Cozad. Through workshops, demonstrations, and presentations by regional experts, campers departed far more knowledgeable about the public power industry in Nebraska than when they arrived. A tour of the Gerald Gentleman Power Station and the Kingsley Hydro-Electric Power Plant provided a first-hand look at the process of generating electricity. Students who represented MPPD were Oliver Wilcox, Jacob Harms, and Mitchell Harms, all of McCook. Oliver was one of three campers who were named 2026 Ambassador.

In July, we had a transformer fail at McCook Substation causing a large outage. Our crews worked long hours, into the night installing the new transformer.
Today, we shipped the faulty transformer off to be rebuilt and will use it as a backup in the future.
