Keystone Central CTC and First Quality Products, LLC Join Forces for Training

Keystone Central Career and Technology/Adult Education announces the completion of blended Welding/Machining training. Keystone’s Central Career and Technical Center collaborated with First Quality Products designing curriculum addressing needs of First Quality Product’s workforce.

Under the instruction of certified educational and industry professionals, the ten-week program was conducted at Keystone Central Career and Technical Center’s Machining and Agriculture Mechanics laboratories. The program focused on safety, welding and machining skills, with repairing shafts to specific tolerances the centerpiece.

Every child deserves a space where they can safely play, learn and grow! Our FQ Team in McElhattan and Lock Haven, along with their families, closed out the summer by joining nearly 100 volunteers in a community project to refresh Hoberman Park, the area’s largest, located in a low-income neighborhood within Lock Haven. This park was identified as needing revitalization by the City of Lock Haven based on use, current conditions and feedback received from community focus groups and surveys. The City of Lock Haven partnered with KABOOM!, the Pennsylvania Municipal League and local organizations to refresh and restore a safe space for children. On build day, team members, their families and community volunteers helped build the playground as well as complete various side projects, including a stage, benches, picnic tables and garden beds while their little ones painted a mural and made a custom paper-link chain for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. We are proud of our FQ Team in McElhattan and Lock Haven for their service to the community and their efforts to and deliver a revitalized space to our neighbors.

October is National Protect Your Hearing Month! Our Environmental Health & Safety team does annual noise sampling in our facility to ensure we have the proper hearing protection. For our team members, we complete yearly hearing tests and have custom molded ear plug fittings. During 2024, we had 100 employees get fitted for custom molded ear plugs, which are then replaced every 5 years.

Our team would like to recognize Fire Prevention Week by sharing examples of our training completed site wide! Yearly, we complete a hands-on fire extinguisher training along with fire drills. In 2024, we have had 21 fire drills! These are done on each crew and in each building to ensure that our team members know how to safely evacuate if needed. During these fire drills, our trained ERT team members are making sure that everyone got out of the building and that they have notified the resources that are needed during the fire. To ensure that our local fire departments are educated on our sites, we have them come onsite for tours with our EHS team.

Thank you, Central Mountain High School for organizing this wonderful opportunity for local businesses to partner with the school district.

Central Mountain High School staff wear shirts every Wednesday that promote post secondary education, branches of the military, and local businesses to show students some of the options they have after they graduate from high school. We would like to give a BIG shout out to First Quality and thank them for generously donating over 100 shirts for our staff to wear and support our initiative.
