Another week, another sewer lateral, another home one step closer to changing hands.

We’re in Arcata this week completing multiple sewer lateral replacements. It may not be the most glamorous part of construction, but it’s one of the most important.

For sellers, it helps keep escrow moving. For buyers, it means one less major repair to worry about after making one of the biggest investments of their lives.

Sometimes a sewer lateral is where our relationship with a homeowner begins, and it grows into a full remodel. Other times we camera the line and discover it’s in great shape—which, honestly, are our favorite days. We’d much rather tell someone they don’t need to spend the money.

Whether we’re replacing a lateral or providing peace of mind with a camera inspection, we’re grateful to play a small part in helping Humboldt homeowners move forward.

Some people see an old house ready to be torn down. We see 124 years of history worth preserving.

The old roof is off. The dry rot is repaired. Tomorrow, a new roof starts to go on this 1902 Edwardian, giving it another chance to stand for generations to come.

That’s the beauty of remodels. They tell a story. Every home has history. Every layer reveals something about the people who came before.
