We recently helped Exploration Place with a bridge project. The original plan called for replacing 6-inch wood planks with a cast-in-place slab over metal decking, which would have required major modifications to the steel framing. With limits on how long the bridge could be closed, we needed a faster solution.

Our team at Wichita Concrete Pipe Company converted the design to precast planks with a Topcast finish to match the adjacent concrete—eliminating the need for significant supplemental steel.

The result? A four-week schedule reduction and bridge closure cut from three weeks to just three days.

Historic Route 66 just got a colorful upgrade! 🛣️

Our team at Wichita Concrete Pipe recently worked with Sherwood Construction and Spec Form Liners to create specialty precast concrete shields for the new bridge at the I44/US412 & SH66 Interchange—marking the original Route 66.

The shields were formed with custom liners, stained in brilliant colors, and installed as part of the statewide initiative to celebrate the upcoming Route 66 centennial in 2026.
