We offer grinding for both large and small quantities, with two distinct methods: traditional surface grinding (or “dry grinding”) and wet grinding. Dry grinding is performed without coolant, while wet grinding incorporates coolant for temperature-sensitive applications. Both methods can be used for profile and feature grinding, precision operations critical to meeting tight tolerances.

We believe customer service means doing everything reasonable to help when timing gets critical. Sometimes it can even mean taking steps that might seem a little unreasonable.

Years ago, a customer needed a part faster than even overnight shipping could manage. They asked whether we could get someone on a flight that night, and we stepped up and did exactly that. An Area Tool team member flew to Boston that evening and hand-delivered the part.

We'll be honest: hand-delivering parts by commercial flight is not one of our core services. But going the extra mile for our customers is.

In honor of our recent 50th anniversary, we chose to celebrate in a community-focused way. Each month, one Area Tool employee will select a local nonprofit, and we’ll make a $500 donation in their name.

We first heard about this idea from another local company, Starn Tool, and it immediately felt like a good fit for our 50th. We’re proud of the role we’ve played in Crawford County for the past five decades, and we know our success has always come down to our talented team members. This is a meaningful way to let our employees support the causes that matter most to them.

In the future, we’ll highlight some of their donations in our newsletter. But we wanted to share this practice that we are proud of and hopefully inspire others as we were inspired!
