For nearly 13 years, Matthew Brickell has been helping LSI clients solve complex automation and controls challenges while building a reputation as a dependable teammate, lifelong learner, and problem-solver. Based out of the Memphis office, Matthew's journey to LSI took a few unexpected turns, but he's found a home where collaboration, continuous learning, and technical challenges go hand in hand.

Matthew earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and later completed a master's degree in electrical engineering with a focus on electro-optics from the University of Memphis. Before joining LSI in 2013, he worked in Huntsville, Alabama, supporting Army testing and evaluation programs. Looking for a new challenge, he connected with LSI through family and mutual connections, ultimately making the move back to the Memphis area.

Since then, Matthew has spent much of his career supporting industrial automation projects, particularly within the pulp and paper industry. His experience spans a variety of technologies – primarily Emerson DeltaV and Rockwell Automation systems, but also Siemens and Bailey platforms – giving him the opportunity to work across numerous industries and applications.

What keeps Matthew engaged after more than a decade at LSI is the constant opportunity to learn.

He also credits LSI's culture of collaboration as one of the company's greatest strengths. "People are always willing to help each other out. It really feels like a healthy, functioning family where everyone works together to solve problems and support each other."

One project that stands out in Matthew's career involved a major outage that brought together more than 30 LSI employees from multiple offices. Working around the clock during a compressed shutdown schedule, the team successfully completed large-scale control system upgrades that required coordination across disciplines, offices, and technologies. For Matthew, the experience highlighted what makes LSI unique: talented people willing to step up and work together to deliver for the client.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys reading, tennis, cooking, video games, and even creating the occasional Bob Ross-inspired painting. He also enjoys traveling and has been to several destinations across Europe; he hopes to one day make a bucket-list trip to Australia and learn how to surf.

Family is another important part of Matthew's life. As a proud uncle, he's earned the title of "funcle" (fun uncle) from his niece and nephew, a role he wears with pride.

Throughout his career, Matthew has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to doing the right thing for clients and teammates alike. He's a great example of the expertise and teamwork that define LSI.

Thank you, Matthew, for your contributions to LSI and for helping our clients succeed every day.

🌟LSI System Initialization – continue to meet some of the latest faces driving innovation.

📣We’re excited to welcome Derek Perri to LSI as a Director of OT Security & Infrastructure.

Derek brings a deep and well-rounded background in cybersecurity, spanning enterprise IT environments, security operations, and critical infrastructure. He began his career in computer networking before quickly finding his path into cybersecurity, where he built extensive experience working with enterprise clients across a wide range of industries.

Over the course of his career, Derek has held roles in security operations, solutions architecture, and consulting – most recently serving as a principal consultant focused on OT/ICS cybersecurity. He has worked across sectors including utilities, oil & gas, manufacturing, and medical devices, helping organizations build and mature their cybersecurity programs. Notably, he spent several years helping stand up and scale a security operations program for a major energy provider, gaining hands-on experience securing critical infrastructure systems.

🗣️Derek’s passion for operational technology (OT) cybersecurity stems from the real-world impact these environments have. “I realized I wanted to work on systems that actually do something in the real world,” he shared. “That’s what drew me into OT – understanding how to take what we know from IT security and apply it in a way that makes industrial systems safer, more reliable, and more resilient.”

At LSI, Derek is focused on building and leading a comprehensive OT cybersecurity and infrastructure practice. His vision includes developing new service offerings, growing a specialized team, and helping clients design and secure modern OT environments from the ground up. He is especially energized by the growing need for organizations to separate and strengthen their OT systems, creating opportunities to build secure, purpose-built technology stacks that align with industry demands and regulatory requirements.

Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending time with his two kids, whether that’s getting outdoors, fishing, or exploring Colorado to find minerals and gems. He’s also a musician who plays guitar, piano, and drums, and enjoys working on vehicles in his free time. A fun fact: before his career in cybersecurity, Derek served in the Army as a tanker – operating one of the most lethal tanks in the Army.

🎉Please join us in welcoming Derek to the LSI team!

At LSI, we’re fortunate to have talented team members who bring both technical expertise and a passion for continuous learning – and Caleb Payne is a great example.

A Jackson, Tennessee native and graduate of Harding University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Caleb joined LSI straight out of college and has been growing his career with the company ever since. Interestingly, his connection to LSI began through his mother, who happened to work in the same business complex as the Jackson office and encouraged him to apply. Caleb ultimately joined LSI alongside his lifelong friend and now coworker, Hayden Love, who was also hired the same day.

Over the past several years, Caleb has built a reputation for taking on challenging projects and thriving in a variety of industries. Whether he’s working in food and beverage, pulp and paper, or electrical equipment manufacturing, he enjoys the constant variety and opportunity to learn.

“What makes LSI fun day-to-day is that every week is different,” Caleb said. “One day you’re in a food plant watching products come down the line, the next you’re in a paper mill, and then the next you’re working on highly specialized manufacturing equipment. You never really get bored doing it.”

Known for his attention to detail and passion for problem-solving, Caleb especially enjoys working in high-performance manufacturing environments where uptime, precision, and engineering best practices are critical. He credits mentors like Lynn Callis and Adam Raby for helping shape his growth and development throughout his career.

Outside of work, Caleb enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, as well as hunting, fishing, photography, and outdoor adventures. In fact, he and a group of lifelong friends – including Hayden – recently completed their 10th annual canoe float trip, an outdoor tradition that has become one of their favorite ways to stay connected.

One unique fact many people may not know about Caleb is that a childhood medical condition requiring extensive orthopedic implants helped spark his interest in engineering. Seeing firsthand how engineering solutions can improve lives gave him an appreciation for the profession and the impact engineers can have on the world around them.

When asked about bucket-list adventures, Caleb doesn’t hesitate: taking a float trip through the Grand Canyon and also returning to Africa, where a high school mission trip left a lasting impression through its breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and experiences.

We’re proud to spotlight Caleb and grateful for the expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm he brings to LSI every day.

🌟LSI System Initialization – continue to meet some of the latest faces driving innovation.

📣We’re excited to welcome Dawid Sadie to LSI as a Business Development Manager.

Originally from South Africa, Dawid brings a global perspective and decades of experience in industrial automation, systems integration, and digital transformation. His career began hands-on – working from the ground up in panel building, field installations, and PLC programming – before evolving into leadership roles across sales, strategy, and business development. Along the way, he played a key role in building one of the largest integration operations in the southern region of South Africa and later led initiatives across MES, DCS, and enterprise-level solutions.

Since relocating to the United States in 2022, Dawid has continued to build his network and expand his reach in the automation and digital transformation space. His passion lies in connecting with clients, understanding their challenges, and acting as a trusted advisor to help guide meaningful, results-driven solutions.

🗣️“When I came to the U.S., I was essentially starting fresh – building a professional network from scratch in a very niche industry,” Dawid shared. “What stood out about LSI was the level of talent and the culture. Being surrounded by people who challenge you to learn, grow, and think differently is incredibly motivating. My goal is simple: listen to client challenges, build trust, and help connect them to the right solutions.”

Dawid is particularly energized by the possibilities that artificial intelligence and digital transformation bring to manufacturing. He sees tremendous opportunity in using data, connectivity, and advanced technologies to support better decision-making and long-term business outcomes.

Outside of work, Dawid and his wife are passionate about travel and exploration, making the most of every opportunity to experience new places since relocating to the U.S. Whether it’s a quick weekend trip, exploring local wineries, cycling through scenic landscapes, or even catching a Broadway show, they embrace every adventure. He’s also an avid guitarist and enjoys music in his downtime.

🎉Please join us in welcoming Dawid to the LSI team!

📣We’re proud to recognize Joey Attebery on his recent promotion to Vice President, an exciting milestone in a career that has been built at LSI from early on.

A Colorado State University graduate with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, Joey joined LSI in 2009 during a challenging job market. What started with a mailed-in resume (a requirement of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment at the time!) turned into a long-term career defined by growth, leadership, and impact.

Over the years, Joey has taken on a wide range of roles – from Engineer to Operations Director – continually expanding his expertise while helping grow both our business and our people. His journey reflects what’s possible at LSI: a place where initiative, curiosity, and hard work open doors to new opportunities.

Joey has expressed that becoming a Vice President at LSI means much more to him than a new title.

🗣️“It represents the trust that so many people have placed in me throughout my career: my teammates, mentors, leaders, and the people I've had the opportunity to work alongside every day. I'm thankful to everyone who has invested their time, knowledge, and support along the way. It also reflects years of growth. Every challenge, success, project, client, and teammate has helped shape who I am as a leader. I certainly didn't get here on my own.

What this opportunity means most to me, though, is responsibility. Responsibility to support our people, help develop future leaders, strengthen the culture that makes LSI special, and continue creating value for our clients and our company.

I'm grateful for the journey, humbled by the confidence placed in me, and excited about what lies ahead,” he shared.

Joey credits much of his passion for LSI to the company’s culture – one that values flexibility, continuous learning, and strong relationships both internally and with clients. He’s especially motivated by mentoring others, helping teams succeed, and creating opportunities for growth across the organization.

Outside of work, Joey enjoys traveling with his wife, golfing, and watching his favorite sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, and KU (University of Kansas) basketball. A fun fact: he used to brew his own b**r, and while that hobby has taken a backseat, his competitive spirit still shows up in the Golden office volleyball team and teeing off on the golf course.

Looking ahead, one of Joey’s bucket list items is to spend some time living in another country – continuing his love of travel and new experiences.

🎉Please join us in congratulating Joey on his well-earned promotion and continued leadership at LSI!
