🔥🏀 Sports Floors, Inc. President, Paulette Heney, had a great night in Indianapolis connecting with WNBA Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings! In the sports flooring business, we see a lot of basketball courts, but it’s not every day you get to hang out with someone who absolutely dominated them.

She is the epitome of what it means to build a legacy of excellence, both as a 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist and through her amazing work with youth in the community. 🏀🔥

👷‍♀️ Women in Construction Week! 👷‍♀️

- What is your role & how long have you worked in construction? “I am the President of Sports Floors Inc. My husband, Dan, and I bought the company five years ago, and I’ve been building my experience in the construction industry ever since.”

- What advice would you give other women looking at joining the industry? “Don’t assume it’s too difficult or intimidating. So much of this industry can be learned on the job. If you have the drive and determination to succeed, you can work through any obstacle that comes your way.”

- Whats one thing people might be surprised to learn about your job? “People are often surprised that my job isn’t just about construction—it’s a lot of troubleshooting, logistics, and working with people. We treat Sports Floors Inc. like a family, and that culture carries through everything we do.”

-What is your role & how long have you worked in construction? “Financial Controller – 28 years in the construction accounting industry”

-What advice would you give other women looking at joining the industry? “Be yourself. Don’t act like you know more than you do. Stand your ground when you know you are 100% correct but always speak with respect. Ask questions / seek information if you are unsure. You will go further when you are respectful and will earn respect in return.”

-What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about your job? “A Financial Controller wears many hats. LOL
Besides the usual business accounting A/P and A/R, I also handle payroll, Human resources, all company licenses and certifications, vehicle registrations, and I’m the notary for the company, just to name a few.”
