Obituary for Johnny Leon Bonds
Johnny Leon Bonds, age 56, of Ripley passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Jackson General Hospital of Jackson, TN. Johnny was born October 16, 1957, in Memphis, TN. He is the son of the late Levoid and the late Lillie Leona (Hartsfield) Bonds.

He is survived by one daughter: Jenifer Bonds Kelley of Collierville, TN and one son: Johnny Leon Bonds Jr. of Munford, TN; Brother of one sister: Gail White of Halls, TN and one brother: Norman Bonds of Chattanooga, TN.

Johnny also leaves five grandchildren: Johnny Leon Bonds III, Richard Elwood Kelley III, Abigail Resse Bonds, Stevie Lynn Short and Rosemary Josephine Kelley.

Also leaves his best friend Scruffy.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmie Bonds.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, July 20 at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN. The burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lauderdale County Animal Shelter.

William Poole Obituary
William Stanton Poole, 69, of Millington, TN passed away at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis, TN on June 24, 2024. He was born in Memphis, TN on January 27, 1955, to the late Trenton and Elvi Cobb Poole.

William, Billy, as he was known to family and friends, loved his wife dearly with their two fur babies, Little Bit and Culley at their home in the Quito Community. He was employed at HumKo and retired from Quikrete. Billy liked to turn on Lynyrd Skynyrd in his Can Am and ride the backroads visiting those he loved. Also, on a nice day you could find Billy and Judy working in the front yard, planting flowers, bird watching, or firing up the grill.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Trenton and Elvi Cobb Poole, 3 brothers; Jimmy Poole, Tommy Poole, and Donald Poole.

Billy is survived by his wife; Judith Merryman Poole, they have been together for the past 13 years and married for the past 2 of those years, brothers; Charles Poole (Wendi), Steve Poole (Diana), and Robert Poole (Jina), sister; Eunice "Elaine" Deal, stepchildren; Casey Merryman Williams and David Merryman, 3 step grandchildren; Lily Merryman, Lucy Herring, and Gus Herring.

Obituary for Emmett "Leon" Coats
Emett "Leon" Coats, 96, passed away February 24, 2024. Mr. Coats was born September 28, 1927, in Burlison, TN. Mr. Coats served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball where he played pitcher. For the past 34 years he enjoyed being retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 sisters, and 6 brothers. He is survived by his daughters; Lesa Hall (Wendell) of Covington, TN, and Mende Scherffius of Munford, TN; 5 grandchildren, Amy Hall David Boling, Adam Scherffius, Mark Scherffius, and Daniel Scherffius; and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Munford Funeral Home in Munford. Funeral Services will take place on Sunday, March 3, at 2:00pm.

Bert is survived by his Wife, Fonda Rutledge Holland, his 2 sisters, Mary Durkee (Dave), and Sheryl Ash (Tommy), 1 Brother, Edward Holland (Marie), His 11 Children, Baxter Holland Jr. (Sherry), David Holland (Jenny), James Holland (Cheryl), Michael Holland, Andrew Holland, Khristy Miller (Joe), Darrell Stephens Jr. (Ginger), Elizabeth Jo Dillingham (Charles), Andrea Hope, Robin Burns (Michael), Amanda Klopack. He Had 31 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Jackie Dale Stafford
February 24, 1948 - April 2, 2023

Jackie Stafford, 75 of Batesville, MS, passed away April 2, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Stafford; daughters, Jana Williams (Jason) and Paige French (Jeremy); son, Jed Dale Stafford (Sarah); two brothers, Ronnie Conley and Rusty Conley, and grandchildren, Alyssa Williams, Dawson Williams, Haley Stafford, Ashley Stafford, Brooklyn Stafford, Madison French, Zoey French, Conner French, Caleb French, and Hunter French.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lena Stafford; sister, Norma Dean Phillips; and one brother, Melton Conley.

Mr. Stafford served in the United States Army in Germany and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor from Inca Presswood. He enjoyed fishing, all aspects of football, and he was a master craftsman. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He held many titles, son, brother, soldier, husband, dad, grandpa, and Mayor of Shake Rag, TN, population 44 and 1/2.

Michael Anthony Maharrey, Sr., age 61 passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Michael was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 3, 1960.
Mike was a graduate of Kingsbury High School. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kay Maharrey; his son, Michael Maharrey Jr.; his daughter Amy Maharrey; many more family and friends.

Hi! This is to inform you that Duane Pindell has passed away from complications due to covid. Duane began work at Humko straight from high school in 1974 and worked there untIl the plant finally closed. He recently retired from Solae in Memphis. Although we divorced after nine years, we remained close friends over the years. We have two beautiful daughters, Brittany Pindell and Tiffany Pindell Smith, a grandson, Cannon, and many precious memories from our youth. His service will be held at Victory Funeral Home, 274 W Marshall Ave, Shawneetown, IL 62984.

John Alan Engle (Bub), 64, of Brighton, TN was born on August 28, 1957, and passed away January 27, 2022, at his home. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Munford Chapel from 12:00 pm until the service at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow in Morrison Cemetery. Mr. Engle retired from Owens Corning in Memphis, TN. He loved blues music, Boston Red Sox, and the Memphis Tigers. He loved playing video games and fishing and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leila McKee Engle; his father, John Burton Engle; a brother, Bruce Engle; father-in-law, Larry A. McKee. He is survived by his mother, Joanna Engle of Brighton, TN; brother, Gary Engle of Munford, TN; two sisters, Christy Newell (Brent) of Atoka, TN and Sharon Taylor (Scott) of Belden, MS; along with several in-law family members that were dear to him.
