𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿

𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗪𝗜, 𝗨𝗦𝗔 – 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, – UNISIG expands its Tech Center with a renovated space and more than $1M in equipment dedicated to research and development, strengthening its role in precision deep hole drilling process development and machine innovation.

The Tech Center is used to develop gundrilling and BTA drilling processes for customers and to test new ideas that make UNISIG machines better and easier to use. Tech center projects are often completed before a machine is purchased or while it is being built, helping validate applications, confirm process capability, and reduce time at installation.

UNISIG engineers run the Tech Center, following a disciplined approach that includes process planning, time studies, tooling selection, and full setup modeling. This ensures testing produces measurable insight, not just results, and allows outcomes to be evaluated directly against engineering expectations.

The guys at Funkengruven have been busy, and that meant the UNISIG machine shop had the opportunity to make some parts that are different from our usual precision machine and automation components.

This new billet intercooler was built to survive more than 200 PSI of boost pressure while cooling air from roughly 700°F coming out of a triple-turbo setup to about 100°F before it enters the engine.

In a single 15-second run, the system can melt nearly 100 pounds of ice removing heat from the charge air.

To handle the extreme temperatures and pressure, the intercooler uses a floating core design inside a billet housing to accommodate thermal expansion and reduce cracking. The bolted construction also makes it serviceable if a turbocharger failure ever requires cleaning or repair.

What started as more than 400 pounds of aluminum was engineered and machined down to approximately 100 pounds per intercooler, creating a lighter, stronger solution that also meets upcoming competition rule changes.

Recently, our team launched a hands-on gundrilling machine and process training program, quickly nicknamed the “Gundrilling Olympics.”

Builders are challenged in:
• Machine alignment
• Application analysis
• Gundrill sharpening
• Machine setup
• Process ex*****on and inspection

Just like in production, performance is judged on safety, quality, productivity, and precision under pressure.

Beyond building skills, programs like this improve how we train, how we build machines, and ultimately how we support our customers.

UNISIG builds large CNC machines with very high power. Over the years, we have invested a lot of time and money in supporting the assembly and testing of our machines at our facility so customers can see their machines work before taking delivery.

When a large shipment of electrical conduit shows up, everyone knows we are adding more infrastructure. We are running another 480 volt x 600 amp service disconnect to our assembly bay to plug in a particularly powerful machine we are building.

Thanks to our team and valued contractors for keeping us moving forward.

A great night at the ballpark with the people who make it all happen.

Our employee appreciation event at the Legends Club inside American Family Field brought together our team and their families for an evening of baseball, food, and time well spent together. Watching the Brewers is always a bonus, but the real highlight is stepping away from the day-to-day and enjoying the company of the people behind the work. Strong teams are built on more than hard work. They are built on connections and shared experiences.

CNC cylindrical grinding is critical for a machine tool builder like UNISIG. High-speed spindles, precision tooling, and power transmission components need more than just accurate machining. Our CNC grinding capabilities take accuracy to the next level.

We use sub-micron positioning and high-speed motion controllers to grind threads, tapers, non-round components, and OD and ID features. Because we grind parts produced in our machine shop, designed by our engineers, and programmed from the same models, we control planning for stock allowance and setup strategies to make grinding highly productive.
