UW-Stout's Graphic Communications instructors welcomed 150 enthusiastic Bloomer Middle School students to our GCOM print-production labs on Friday, May 15.

After a brief intro about lab safety, the fifth graders learned behind-the-scenes printing processes related to making memo pads, custom-cut stickers, and softcover notebooks.

Each middle schooler took a turn operating our book binding machine and everyone left the GCOM labs with handfuls of Bloomer-themed swag.

The career-exploration visit was coordinated by UW-Stout’s Office of Educational Pathways & Outreach.

A quick shout out to my award-winning team!

We are so excited to announce that the University of Wisconsin-Stout TAGA Chapter was awarded the 2026 Students' Choice Award for our Package Design Submission.

Mallory Jakubiak, Red Moser, Trevor Anderson, Ariel Kissel, Theo Cerny, and Brynn Hessel did an amazing job to produce something that not only impressed the judges, but the other competitors.

We are so excited to see what Samantha Mireles and Shyzie Lor cook up for next year.

Keep your eye out for a press release by Rebecca Gaspord.

I couldn't be more

Thank you to the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts for hosting such a wonderful competition. I appreciate all of the work that has gone into making this wonderful experience for Graphic Communications students worldwide.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026: MAKE YOUR MOVE

International Women’s Day 2026 is guided by the United Nations theme:

Rights. Justice. Action.

This is a global call to turn principles into progress.

At Girls Who Print, that progress shows up through empowerment, access, and forward motion.

Our 2026 conference theme, MAKE YOUR MOVE, focuses on what action looks like inside careers, leadership journeys, and professional growth. It is about recognizing opportunity, building momentum, and taking intentional steps forward at every stage of a career in print and graphic communications.

This event explores how women move from potential to progress, how access becomes opportunity, and how informed decisions create advancement. Through conversation, insight, and shared experience, we examine the moments that shape careers and the choices that help women expand their impact, visibility, and influence. International Women’s Day sets the direction.

MAKE YOUR MOVE turns it into momentum.

Undergraduate Graphic Communications students (Trevor Anderson, Evan Ida, Mallory Jakubiak, Trevor Kjelland, Lauren Morrison & Alayna Twite) to the PRINTING United Expo in Orlando, Florida.

Opportunities like this enhance the B.S. Graphic Communications program by giving students real-world exposure to cutting-edge print technologies and equipment like they’ve never seen before. Students also have the chance to engage with technical experts who span the full spectrum of the printing industry and to develop meaningful connections with working professionals and students from across the country. Most importantly, students always return to campus with a fresh perspective of our industry and an excitement and energy that is unmatched. It is encouraging to see the fresh ideas and inspiration that they bring back to enrich their activities on campus and beyond.

None of this would have been possible without the support of the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation and the generous donors who contribute to our foundation account. Thank you to everyone who supports PGSF and the University of Wisconsin-Stout Graphic Communications program. We are so incredibly grateful that we are able to give students unforgettable experiences like this.

We had an extra student that wanted to take the final today! When a GCOM student saw a baby bird on the ground outside of Comm Tech with no nest nearby to speak of, she couldn't help but make sure it would be safe. We used the lab equipment and some makeready to make sure it was taken to the local wildlife sanctuary in style!
