POSITION TITLE: Packer
DEPARTMENT: Production
POSITION SUMMARY: Pack bottles to the specifications of the customer. Check bottles for conformity and obvious quality errors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Function #1: Read line schedule and check with the Floor Lead or Supervisor to verify order specifications/requirements. Check the specifications for boxes, trays, inserts, labels, quantity, etc. Check flamer if applicable.
Function #2: Visually check bottles for quality defects.
Function #3: Pack bottles according to line schedule specifications.
Function #4: When an order is complete, grind all bottles if needed; clear lines of the previous product during changeovers. Clean area and set line up for the next order.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Contact Maintenance if a problem is detected. Call
Shipping for boxes, inserts, bottles, etc., as needed for changeovers, affix labeling when necessary, assist Machine Operator and Utility with duties on the line, perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION MAY ALSO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF: Utility
DECISION MAKING: When a problem is detected, contact a Supervisor or Floor Lead. If the line is down, the Packer assists with other lines to help with breaks and lunches.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: The position requires extensive standing, with some sitting and walking, substantial reaching overhead, and bending.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RESULTS: Measure success by being efficient while maintaining training a high level of quality. For a packer to be successful, he/she must be on time and dependable.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL: Experience/ability to perform repetitive work, common sense.
