How much does attic insulation cost in Phoenix? Depends on square footage and how much is up there now, but most homes land in a range that pays itself back in 3–5 summers of lower SRP or APS bills. We quote flat and up front — no surprise add-ons after the truck shows up.

The 5 stages of Phoenix AC failure, as documented by our phone line:

1. Denial — "It's just hot outside today." 2. Bargaining — "If I close all the blinds and don't cook, maybe—" 3. Anger — aimed at the thermostat, which has done nothing wrong 4. Acceptance — everyone relocates to the one room that's still tolerable 5. Calling us — usually around 4pm on a Saturday 📞

Real talk though: stage 1 is where the money is. A capacitor caught in April is a $260 part. A compressor that died in July because a weak capacitor cooked it for four months is a very different conversation.

Twelve years in the Valley, and the thing we're still proudest of isn't a number on a spreadsheet. 🧡

It's that we get called back by the same families for a second thing. Attic insulation in 2019, mini-split in the casita in 2022, new AC last spring. That only happens if you were straight with people the first time.

We hear this weekly, usually about an upstairs room or a west-facing one. And almost every time it's one of three things:

1️⃣ The attic above it is running R-11 and radiating heat straight down 2️⃣ The duct feeding it is leaking cold air into that 150° attic 3️⃣ The room was added on or converted and never properly sized for cooling

None of those are "buy a bigger AC" problems. Two of them are honestly pretty affordable fixes.

What's the best insulation for an attic in Arizona? Blown fiberglass to R-38, installed evenly, with proper baffles at the eaves so your attic still breathes. Depth and coverage matter more than brand.

The average home we inspect in Mesa is short around 7 inches.

Stick it straight down into the insulation at your attic hatch.

4 inches → you're around R-11. Rough. 6 inches → about R-19. Still under. 10 inches → about R-30. Getting warm (in a good way). 14–16 inches → R-38. That's the target for Phoenix.

Most Valley homes built before the mid-90s are sitting at 4–6 inches. If that's you, there's a decent chance SRP will cover up to $600 of fixing it.
